  • Patent number: 9098528
Abstract: According to the prior art load distribution method, there was a drawback in that the time required from discovery of increase of load to the completion of countermeasures was long. In particular, upon receiving migration of data from other file devices, it was necessary to equalize not only the load accompanying normal processes but also the load accompanying the data migration processes. In a file system receiving migration of data from a plurality of file devices, a plurality of virtual NAS (VNAS) is provided within the file storage subsystem, and an associated VNAS for executing data migration from file devices and accesses from clients is respectively associated with each file storage subsystem. Then, the state of each VNAS is defined based on the state of progress of data migration in the file storage subsystem. According to the defined state, load distribution among VNAS is performed.

  • Patent number: 9075768
Abstract: A multi-core processor includes a tree-like structure having a plurality of computing cores arranged in hierarchical levels, the cores all having the same logical architecture. Each core can include computing, interconnecting, and/or storage elements. The functionality of an individual element can be supplied by an entire core in a lower level. A method for programming the processor includes hierarchically decomposing an application into interconnected sub-functions, mapping the sub-functions onto groups of cores at appropriate levels of the processor, and interconnecting the mapped sub-functions so as to hierarchically compose the complete application. Sub-functions can be sequential, concurrent, and/or pipelined. Interconnections can be static or dynamically switchable under program control. Interconnect elements can also be used to implement flow control as needed in pipelined operations to maintain data coherency.

  • Patent number: 8811387
Abstract: A dynamically reconfigurable network architecture includes a plurality of switching modules arranged in an ordered, multi-level, switched-tree configuration. A network is formed by selecting one switching module as the root and assigning it and all directly or indirectly subsidiary modules to the network. The operating mode of each switching module can be dynamically selected as either circuit-switched or packet-switched. The modules can be grouped into a single network or into a plurality of separate networks operating in parallel, including both circuit-switched and packet-switched networks. When a network is no longer needed, its operation can be halted and its resources released for reassignment to other networks. In embodiments, a selector controlled by allocation registers selects either a circuit-switching sequencer or a packet connection arbitration circuit to control the switching circuits. Switching modules can include crossbar switches.

  • Publication number: 20140101150
Abstract: A method for high speed searching of a large database provides speed, throughput, and efficient memory usage comparable to TCAM-assisted searches without using dedicated processors. Successive groups of bits from a key are processed by tables in a search tree. The tables are constructed with different sizes and types according to the structure of the key and the distribution of information in the database. Each link to a subsequent table specifies both the type of the linked table and how many key bits the table will process. The tables include, but are need not be limited to, address offset tables that use bits from the key as an addressing offset to locate a result. Embodiments are implemented on pipeline processors that include internal memory units and access to external memory. Embodiments also include string compare tables, memory mapped tables, and/or instructions to continue searching on a different memory unit.

  • Publication number: 20140018644
Abstract: Methods, sensors, and systems for determining a concentration of glucose in a medium of a living animal are disclosed. Determining the glucose concentration may involve emitting excitation light from a light source to indicator molecules, generating a raw signal indicative of the amount of light received by a photodetector, purifying and normalizing the raw signal, and converting the normalized signal to a glucose concentration. The purification may involve removing noise (e.g., offset and/or distortion) from the raw signal. The purification and normalization may involve tracking the cumulative emission time that the light source has emitted the excitation light and tracking the implant time that has elapsed since the optical sensor was implanted. The purification and normalization may involve measuring the temperature of the sensor. The purification, normalization, and conversion may involve using parameters determined during manufacturing, in vitro testing, and/or in vivo testing.
