A terminal for transmitting data to a plurality of wireless networks, includes a transmission rule storing unit to store a data transmission rule with respect to the plurality of wireless networks, a data dividing unit to divide first data into a plurality of first data groups based on the stored data transmission rule, a transmission network selecting unit to select an individual transmission network for each divided data group from the plurality of wireless networks based on the determined data transmission rule, and a network access unit to transmit each data group to the selected transmission network.

Abstract: Vertical handover apparatus and method in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes examining whether there exists an accessible target network while communicating with a serving network; when there exists the accessible target network, linking up to the target network; changing a communication state to an idle mode by de-registering the linked target network; and performing a network re-entry to the target network in a vertical handover to the target network. When the terminal can execute the vertical handover without the seamless service support and reduce the handover delay.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for fast handover in a wireless security data communication environment. The fast handover method for a mobile node connected to a network via an access point to perform a data communication in a wireless communication environment according to the present invention includes: performing an authentication while communicating with an authentication server having registration information about the mobile node via an uncontrolled port of the access point so as to make the mobile node connected to the network; performing a mobile Internet Protocol (IP) registration for binding a Care-of-Address (CoA) to a home agent and a correspondent node (CN) via the access point in parallel with performing the authentication; and opening a control port of the access point and relaying data transceived at the mobile node using the CoA when the authentication and the registration being successfully completed. Accordingly, a fast handover of the mobile node can be supported.

Abstract: A radio communication system and transmission method using Multi-Radio Access (MRA) interfaces are provided. The radio communication system and method include a transmitter and a receiver having at least two Radio Access (RA) interfaces capable of communicating through different frequency spectrums, in which each of the transmitter and the receiver includes a multiple radio transmission layer for activating a multiple radio transmission entity for each upper layer service and transmitting data in packet units and an RA layer for activating at least one RA entity that manages the RA interface for the multiple radio transmission entity and dividing a packet into sub-packets for transmission and reception. In the transmission method, the multiple radio transmission entity of the transmitter receives a packet transmission success indicator for a specific packet from the RA entity of the transmitter and a next packet is transmitted upon receipt of the packet transmission success indicator.

Abstract: A network discovery method in a heterogeneous network environment. The network discovery method includes receiving neighbor information indicating neighbor PoAs from a MIIS entity at a mobile node that includes a plurality of communication interface sections capable of communicating with different networks; checking at least one neighbor PoA using the neighbor information at the mobile node; and activating a communication interface section corresponding to the checked neighbor PoA at the mobile node. Accordingly, the neighbor networks can be discovered under the heterogeneous network environment and unnecessary power consumption can be avoided.

Abstract: A handover management apparatus and method for heterogeneous networks is provided. The handover management method includes receiving a handover request notification from a serving access node (AN) that is located in a first wireless network and connected to a mobile node (MN) and extracting information from the received handover request notification. The extracted information relates to a target AN that is located in a second wireless network heterogeneous from the first wireless network. The method further includes changing the target AN, which is discovered from the extracted information, to an AN of the MN and storing information associating the mobile node with the target access node.

Abstract: A handoff apparatus and method in FMIPv6 for seamless TCP packet transmissions. The handoff method includes steps of intercepting by a previous access router certain TCP packets sent from a correspondent node to a previous temporary address of a mobile node; and creating a TCP ACK by the previous access router in response to the certain TCP packets and sending by the previous access router the created TCP ACK to the correspondent node every time the certain TCP packets are forwarded to a new access router through a bi-directional tunnel. The handoff method has an advantage in that the packet transmission rate can be secured at the same level as the mobile node stays still during the performance of the handoff of the mobile node since the previous access router instead of the mobile node creates and sends the TCP ACK to the correspondent node during the performance of the handoff of the mobile node.

Abstract: A control method for a mobile terminal which connects to a router linked to an external network through at least one interface, including receiving a router advertisement message from the router through a first interface, determining whether prefix information of the received router advertisement message is identical with prefix information of a preset internet protocol (IP) configuration reuse group including the first interface, and generating an IP configuration of the first interface when the two prefix information are identical. Accordingly, at the time of a vertical handover, continuity of the A/V session can be maintained without having to use mobile IP technology.

Abstract: A handover method of a mobile terminal device in a wireless local area network (WLAN) includes a mobile terminal device and at least two wireless access points (APs) which communicate with the mobile terminal device using particular radio resources. The mobile terminal device communicates with a wireless AP via a first radio resource, and receives signals from wireless APs via a second radio resource. The mobile terminal device arranges and stores the signals received from the wireless APs in a certain order of size. The mobile terminal device determines an AP for the handover by sequentially searching the stored APs when intensity of the signal received via the first radio resource is smaller than a predetermined value.

Abstract: A handover method and medium of a mobile node that moves between service areas of wireless LAN and wired LAN. The mobile node carries out semi-soft handover when moving from the service area of the wireless LAN to that of the wired LAN. The mobile node carries out soft handover when moving from the service area of the wired LAN to that of the wireless LAN. Therefore, the mobile node can communicate over the wireless LAN or the wired LAN without data interruption.
