  • Publication number: 20200145268
Abstract: A boundary within a last orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol of a PHY data unit is determined. Pre-encoder padding bits are added to a set of information bits to generate a set of padded information bits such that the set of padded information bits, after being encoded, fill one or more OFDM symbols up to the boundary within the last OFDM symbol. The set of padded information bits are encoded to generate a set of coded bits. A PHY preamble is generated to include a subfield that indicates the boundary. The one or more OFDM symbols are generated to include (i) the set of coded information bits in the one or more OFDM symbols up to the boundary to allow a receiving device to stop decoding the one or more OFDM symbols at the boundary, and (ii) post-encoder padding bits in the last OFDM symbol following the boundary.

  • Patent number: 10574312
Abstract: The present disclosure describes apparatuses and methods for interference cancellation in multi-antenna receivers. In some aspects, a packet transmitted through a wireless environment is received via multiple antennas of a receiver, the packet being affected by interference of the wireless environment. The receiver multiplies signals of the packet with an interference cancellation matrix to provide reduced-interference signals of the packet from which a first portion of the interference is removed. Based on a first set of the reduced-interference signals of the packet, the receiver provides a reduced-interference channel estimate. A second portion of the interference is then removed from a second set of the reduced-interference signals using the reduced interference channel estimate. By so doing, the receiver may reduce effects of interference of the wireless environment (e.g., interfering packets or signals) to improve receive performance (e.g.

  • Patent number: 10420034
Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide methods and systems for adaptively controlling uplink communications parameters of a receiving station by an access point. In some embodiments, the uplink power and/or uplink rate of a receiving station is controlled by the access point based on uplink RSSI and/or SNR measurements of uplink packets sent by the receiving station to the access point. For example, the access point may adjust a target RSSI value based on the uplink RSSI and/or SNR measurements of uplink packets in the allocated resource unit. The adjusted target RSSI value is sent to the receiving station in a trigger frame from the access point and the receiving station may then set the uplink transmission power based on the target RSSI value.

  • Patent number: 10397933
Abstract: The present disclosure describes apparatuses and methods of interference cancellation for receivers with multiple antennas. In some aspects, an interference packet transmitted by an interfering device of a wireless environment is received via multiple antennas of a device. Based on the interference packet, an interference channel that describes interference in the wireless environment is estimated. The device then receives an intended packet through the wireless environment in which the interfering device is operating. At least a portion of interference received with the intended packet, such as interference caused by other interfering packets, is cancelled using the interference channel. By so doing, a receiver may reduce effects of interfering packets or signals of the wireless environment to improve receive performance (e.g., bit-error rate) for packets that are intended for reception by the device.

  • Patent number: 10389414
Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods and apparatuses for matrix compensation to prevent rank deficiency. In some aspects, a channel matrix is formed based on channel feedback matrices that are received from multiple devices. The channel matrix is transformed to provide a channel covariance matrix, which is then decomposed into a unitary matrix and Eigen value matrix components. Diagonal values of the Eigen value matrix are increased to provide a compensated Eigen value matrix. Based on the compensated Eigen value matrix, a steering matrix is determined for steering transmissions through the channel to the multiple devices. By compensating the Eigen value matrix, rank deficiency issues that typically result in failed steering matrix calculations can be prevented. Alternately or additionally, a dynamic range of the steering matrix calculations may be reduced by compensating matrices, enabling steering matrices to be calculated with less-complex or fewer hardware resources.

  • Patent number: 10348380
Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods and apparatuses for singular value decomposition with norm sorting. In some aspects, a sounding frame is received through a channel of a wireless medium. Based on the sounding frame, a channel covariance matrix describing conditions of the channel can be determined. The channel covariance matrix is then decomposed, with an ortho-normal matrix, to provide an intermediate matrix of vectors. One or more vectors of the intermediate matrix are sorted based on a respective norm to provide a norm-sorted matrix of the vectors. A steering matrix for the channel is then generated by ortho-normalizing at least two vectors of the norm-sorted matrix. By so doing, a steering matrix can be generated quickly and efficiently for use in subsequent communication operations.
