The fabrication of a ZBLAN photonic crystal fiber with sub-micron features and large air-filling fraction and the use of the fiber to generate a stable supercontinuum (200 to 2500 nm) from 140 fs, 1 nJ pulses at 1042 nm are disclosed.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for protecting an electronic book from unauthorized access. HTML for the book is shredded by dividing it into portions, and a selection scheme is used to intersperse decoy data among the portions. Dynamically generated cascading style sheets are used to define a pattern for decoy and content data such that a browser on a client device correctly processes the HTML but an unauthorized program such as a web scraper cannot correctly process the HTML.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method for icon based application control. The method includes receiving, by a processor, a detection signal indicative of a pre-defined user action on an icon in a graphical user interface (GUI). The icon has an associated application. Further, the method includes extracting adjustable settings of the associated application with the icon, and providing, by the processor, a setting interface for the icon in the GUI to enable adjustments of the settings for the application to be performed via the setting interface.

Abstract: A template processor converts an initial template document into an XSL template that can be used to automatically generate reports from report data extracted from a database or other application. Users create initial template documents using a word processor or other rich-text editing application. The initial template document employs the word processor's native formatting features to specify the formatting of report data. The initial template document also includes transformation tags that dynamically define the content of a report based on the value or quantity of report data. In some instances, the model may account for events that cause a patrol unit to deviate from a patrol schedule and route. For example, a patrol schedule may be generated for one or more patrol units using a Bayesian Stackelberg game theory model based on a map of the public transportation system, a schedule of the transports, a list of the one or more patrolling units, a probability distribution for the occurrence of the passenger not paying to ride the transports, a list of the one or more possible events that would delay the patrol units, and a probability distribution for the occurrence of the one or more possible events that would delay the patrolling units represented by a Markov-decision process.

One aspect of the invention relates to isolation of human ISL1+ primordial cells from human pluripotent cells, such as human ES cells or other human pluripotent stem cell sources, wherein the human ISL1+ primordial cells can differentiate into three different lineages; cardiomyocyte lineages, endothelial lineages and smooth muscle lineages. Another aspect relates to use and implantation of the human primordial ISL1+ progenitors into an animal model to generate human vascularized heart tissue, and more particularly, the production of an in vivo humanized model of vascular disease.
