  • Patent number: 8800639
Abstract: An exemplary heat dissipation apparatus includes a number of fins and a heat pipe. Each fin defines a through hole therein. A collar extends from each fin at an edge of the through hole. The collar inclines toward a center of the through hole. An inner diameter of the collar gradually decreases along a direction away form the fin. A diameter of the heat pipe is larger than a minimum inner diameter of the collar when the collar in a natural state. When the heat pipe extends through the through hole of the fin, the collar is pushed by the heat pipe to expand outwardly, so that the heat pipe intimately contacts an inner face of the collar.

  • Patent number: 8656590
Abstract: An exemplary method for manufacturing a heat dissipation apparatus includes, firstly, providing a fin assembly including a stack of fins spaced from each other. Each fin defines a through hole therein, and includes a collar formed at an edge of the through hole. Then a heat pipe is provided, and inserted in the through holes of the fins. Next, two opposing punching tools are provided. Each punching tool defines a series of recesses. The subassembly of the heat pipe and fins is positioned between the two punching tools, with the collar of each fin located between two corresponding recesses of the two punching tools. The two punching tools punch the collars of the fins from two opposite sides of the collars. Thereby, the collars shrink inwardly and press the heat pipe to deform until the heat pipe is fittedly mounted in the collars of the fins.

  • Publication number: 20120186786
Abstract: An exemplary heat dissipation apparatus includes a stack of fins, a heat pipe extending through the fins, and a resilient plate fixed between the fins and the heat pipe. The fins are spaced from each other. Each of the fins defines a through hole therein for extending of the heat pipe therethrough. The heat pipe is mounted in the through hole. The resilient plate is fixed in the through hole and located between an edge of the through hole of the fin and the heat pipe, pushing the heat pipe into abutting engagement against the fin.

  • Publication number: 20120183396
Abstract: An exemplary fan mount for mounting a fan which has a connecting hole includes a frame and a fastener. The frame comprising a sidewall defining a chamber for receiving the fan and a connecting wall extending inwards from the sidewall towards the chamber. A hollow elastic pole extends out from the connecting wall into the chamber, for inserting in the connecting hole of the fan. A through hole extends through the elastic hole and a corresponding part of the connecting wall. The fastener includes a shaft for engaging in the through hole. When the fastener is inserted in the through hole, the fixing pole deforms to make an outer end thereof away from the connecting wall enlarge, thereby fixing the fastener on the frame.
