An insulative board is formed between the insulative housings and extends forward. The dustproof cover comprises a main body (32) defining a channel (34) in its upper edge, a resilient fastener (36) extending from the main body (32), and a pair of pivots (38). The pivots are received in the slots and are retained in place by a front face (42) of the shield. An abutting portion (364) of the resilient fastener abuts the block portions in a closed position. A spring end portion (366) extending through the channel is depressed to open the closed dustproof cover.

    Abstract: An assembly of the present invention includes an electronic connector (1) and a vacuum placement cover (30). The connector includes a housing (10) and a plurality of contacts (20). Two side walls (103, 104) are separated from a tongue member (12) of the housing by a pair of grooves (11) at both sides of the tongue member. The vacuum placement cover comprises a cover member (31) having a cover plate (34) with a flat top surface (311) for receiving a vacuum pick-up force for placement of the connector. Two side plates (33) depend from opposite sides of the cover plate and fit against outer surfaces of the side walls to keep the cover from wobbling and to protect the side walls from deflecting under the force of the cover. Two resilient clamping members (32) are formed on longitudinal sides of the cover plate, each clamping member comprising two opposite gripping legs (320) for clamping opposite faces of the tongue member.

Each securing portion includes an upper horizontal slot (1193) and a vertical slot (1194) forming a t-shaped cross. The cable includes a plurality of signal wires (31) and a pair of ground wires (33). The shield has a pair of inwardly extending fastening projections (121). A signal conductor (32) of each signal wire electrically connects with a corresponding electrical contact. A ground conductor (34) of each ground wire is located into the corresponding vertical slot. Part of the ground conductor is pressed into the corresponding horizontal slot by the corresponding fastening projection of the shield.

    Abstract: An electrical connector includes a dielectric housing (1), a terminal module (2), a shielding shell (3), a pair of board locks (14) and a pair of rivets (13). The terminal module (2) is attached to the dielectric housing so that a plurality of terminals (4) extends through a mating projection (8) of the housing. The shielding shell encloses the mating projection. The board locks are fixed to both ends of the housing by the rivets. A resilient finger (143) is integrally formed with a corresponding board lock and contacts the shielding shell. Engaging legs (142) of the board locks are adapted to mount to a printed circuit board and connect with a grounding trace of the printed circuit board. Thus the shielding shell is electrically grounded to the grounding traces via the fingers of the board locks.

A tubular receptacle is defined through the body, and a projection portion of the receptacle is formed on a front surface of the body for engaging with a plug for audio signal transmission. A pair of locking elements is formed on lateral edges of the body. Each locking element comprises a locking arm and a locking tip. A pair of locking portions is formed on lateral faces of the spacer. Each locking portion comprises a recess and a locking block. In assembly, the locking arm is received in the corresponding recess and the locking tip engages the locking block. Thus, the body is securely assembled to the spacer.

One end of each terminal is received in the corresponding passageway of the housing and the other end is bent to extend through the mounting surface for connecting with a circuit board. The grounding means attached to the shell comprises at least a resilient spring finger appropriately bent and warped relative to the mating surface.
