  • Publication number: 20220126653
Abstract: A virtual visor system is disclosed that includes a visor having a plurality of independently operable pixels that are selectively operated with a variable opacity/transparency. A camera captures images of the face of a driver or other passenger and, based on the captured images, a controller operates the visor to automatically and selectively darken a limited portion thereof to block the sun or other illumination source from striking the eyes of the driver, while leaving the remainder of the visor transparent. The virtual visor system advantageously eliminates unnecessary obstructions to the driver's view while also blocking distracting light sources, thereby improving the safety of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10410429
Abstract: Improved mechanisms for three-dimensional image reconstruction are disclosed. A user is presented with a scene image and allowed to select elements of the image, such as planes, within which features are to be detected. The features are detected and tracked and objects (such as planes) are constructed. The user is allowed to revise the constructed objects and may be allowed to repeat image element selection, with feature detection and tracking and object construction being repeated. When element selection and object construction and user revision are completed, a three-dimensional reconstruction of the scene image is computed.

  • Patent number: 10013610
Abstract: A method and apparatus for lane detection using overhead images and positional data. A server receives positional data from a vehicle and computes a continuous trajectory. The server receives an overhead image of a road section. The server crops and processes the overhead image to remove unwanted portions. The server identifies edge features using the continuous trajectory and steerable filters. The server identifies lanes in the overhead image using a maximization algorithm, the edge filters, and the continuous trajectory.

  • Patent number: 9710714
Abstract: Point cloud data is received and a ground plane is segmented. A two-dimensional image of the segmented ground plane is generated based on intensity values of the segmented ground plane. Lane marking candidates are determined based on intensity within the generated two-dimensional image. Image data is received and the generated two-dimensional image is registered with the received image data. Lane marking candidates of the received image data are determined based on the lane marking candidates of the registered two-dimensional image. Image patches are selected from the two-dimensional image and from the received image data based on the determined lane markings. Feature maps including selected image patches from the registered two-dimensional image and received data are generated. The set of feature maps are sub-sampled, and a feature vector is generated based on the set of feature maps. Lane markings are determined from the generated feature vector.
