Abstract: A system and method for collecting entity aliases include a web object collection component that obtains, from a web search engine, at least one Web object associated with a user' input entity. The system and method also include a social tag collection component that obtains a respective set of social tags for each of the Web objects from a social tag website and defines candidate aliases for the user's input entity based upon the respective set of social tags. An aliases refinement component refines the candidate aliases to obtain a collection of aliases of the user's input entity.

Abstract: This invention aims to provide a method and apparatus for displaying and/or browsing a multi-faceted data set containing hierarchical subject labels. In the present invention, subject labels can be located into a 3D space. Complex information, such as, the relationship between subject labels and weights of respective subject labels can be presented by displaying the 3D space. In this way, the screen size can be reduced and the user experience is improved.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing the contents of a network resource to a mobile device are disclosed, the apparatus including: an acquiring module for acquiring the current contents of the network resource; and an adaptive filtering module for extracting the difference information by comparing the cached contents of the network resource and the current contents of the network resource, and sending the difference information to the mobile device. An apparatus and method for acquiring the contents of network resource are also disclosed, the apparatus including: a determining module for determining whether a response to an access request for a network resource includes difference information; a combining module for, generating current contents of the network resource by combining the difference information and locally cached previous contents of the network resource; and a presenting module for presenting the generated current contents of the network resource.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for servo data based harmonics calculation. For example, a circuit for determining harmonics is disclosed that includes an analog to digital conversion circuit that provides a series of digital samples corresponding to a pattern within a servo data region of a storage medium, and a harmonic calculation circuit. The harmonic calculation circuit is operable to calculate a first harmonic value for the series of digital samples, calculate a second harmonic value for the series of digital samples, and calculate a ratio of the first harmonic value to the second harmonic value.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for gain estimation using servo data with improved bias correction. The gain is estimated using a preamble in a servo sector by obtaining a first gain estimate using a first gain estimation algorithm (such as a Zero Gain Start Algorithm) and a first portion of the preamble; storing the first portion of the preamble in a memory buffer; obtaining a second gain estimate using a second gain estimation algorithm (such as a Zero Forcing algorithm) and the first portion of the preamble; and processing Servo Address Mark (SAM) and Gray data in the servo sector using the first gain estimate substantially simultaneous to the step of obtaining the second gain estimate. A gain error can be obtained by calculating a difference between the first gain estimate and the second gain estimate. The gain error can be used in burst processing of the servo data.

Abstract: System, method and program product for text processing using object coreference technology. In particular, the invention provides a text processing method which includes, acquiring text to be processed; extracting subject words and entity words corresponding to the subject words from the text; grouping the subject words; determining entity words that reference a same concerned object according to the grouped subject words; and generating processing policy for entity words that reference a same concerned object. The invention also includes a system with means for carrying out the method. The invention generally realizes automatic, more comprehensive, accurate, efficient analysis and processing on text data. The invention can be used to dig a large amount of comment data about some entity, and the invention can also be used to suggest insertion place in an article where embedded advertisement is inserted.

Abstract: A storage device of a computer system including a first storage portion having a first capacity and a second storage portion having a second capacity is disclosed. A virtual storage unit is installed in an operating system of the computer system, and the operating system directly accesses data in the first capacity of the storage device. The operating system accesses the data in the second capacity via the virtual storage unit mapped to the second capacity of the storage device. The invention may be adapted to the storage device which uses a MBR partition table scheme and has a capacity larger than 2.2 TB which is the maximum supportive capacity of the MBR partition table scheme.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for measuring servo address mark distance in a read channel using selective fine phase estimates. A distance between servo address marks (SAMs) in servo data of a magnetic recording media can be computed by obtaining a count of a number of time intervals between SAM patterns; obtaining a plurality of fractional phase estimates; selecting at least one of the plurality of fractional phase estimates as a selected fractional phase estimate based on a selection criteria; and combining the count and the selected fractional phase estimate to compute the distance. The fractional phase estimates can include a first fractional phase estimate having a lower resolution and higher accuracy in the presence of frequency errors relative to a second fractional phase estimate and wherein the second fractional phase estimate has more resolution and lower accuracy in the presence of the frequency errors relative to the first fractional phase estimate.

Abstract: A device for generating opinion pairs having sentiment orientation based impact relations, having: a reception unit which receives a plurality of object-oriented opinions; an extraction unit which extracts opinions having impact relations among the plurality of object-oriented opinions; an analysis unit which analyzes sentiment orientations of the extracted respective opinions; and a generation unit which establishes correlations between the opinions having sentiment orientation based impact relations to generate the opinion pairs having the sentiment orientation based impact relations. The present device can search and locate more implicit opinions as supplementary opinions by detecting impact relations from a plurality of opinions, and help users interested in different objects obtain more comprehensive comments and summaries.

Abstract: A document tagging method and apparatus. According to the method, a focused entity relevant to a basic document and a sentiment polarity of comments on the focused entity are acquired, and then a tag is generated on the basic document from the focused entity and the corresponding sentiment polarity. The present invention can tag the basic document with an opinion on the relevant focused entity and thus facilitate knowledge of the opinion on a relevant entity.

Abstract: A pharmaceutical formulation containing 50-90% by weight a powdered extract of Andrographis paniculata and 5-50% by weight a powdered blocking agent. The formulation may further contain a pore-forming agent, a filler, a lubricant, or a glidant. Also described are a method for preparing this pharmaceutical formulation and a method for treating inflammatory disease, immunological disease, or respiratory disease with it.

Abstract: A method and system for publishing specified content on a webpage. Specifically, an example method for publishing specified content at a specified location of a webpage includes the steps of performing sentiment analysis upon context surrounding a specified location where the specified content is to be published to determine a sentiment tendency of the context surrounding the specified location and selecting whether or not to publish the specified content at the specified location according to the sentiment tendency of the context surrounding the specified location. Embodiments of the invention help to make the webpage content more coherent, make the contents of a webpage matching in sentiment and rational in layout, improve a viewer's feeling of the webpage content, and increase website click rate and revenue. Embodiments help achieve a beneficial effect of providing a web electronic ad matching the sentiment of a webpage.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system for checking a chemical name. The method tokenizes the chemical name to obtain corresponding tokens; checks the chemical name according to the chemical association between chemical compositions represented by the tokens; and if the chemical name does not pass the check, replaces at least part of tokens of the chemical name that does not pass the check, and repeats the checking step. The system and method can not only help users to find and correct errors in spelling a chemical name but also check the entire chemical name at the level of chemical associations. Hence, not only chemical names that are incorrectly spelled but also ones that do not conform to chemical rules can be found, and significant help is provided to users for correcting chemical names.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for identifying an advertisement in a web page. The method includes the steps of: receiving a sample page; analyzing a source code of the sample page to obtain a node feature of the sample page; analyzing the node feature using a preset rule to find a sample advertisement in the sample page; analyzing a first link of the sample advertisement to obtain a link mode of the sample advertisement; and utilizing the link mode to identify a second advertisement, where at least one of the steps is carried out using a computer device so that the advertisement in a web page is identified.

Abstract: A method and system for searching an electronic map. The method includes the steps of: receiving a query entered by a user for searching the electronic map; extracting place names in the query; extracting in web pages searched on a computer network co-occurrence place names that co-occurred with the place names; selecting extension place names from the co-occurrence place names, thereby obtaining a set of extension place names; generating a set of queries, wherein the set of queries includes the query entered by the user, and includes a query obtained by replacing the place names in the query entered by the user with each extension place name in the set of extension place names respectively; and sending the set of queries to a map search engine.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for performing modified rate burst demodulation. For example, a method for performing modified rate burst demodulation is disclosed. The method includes receiving a data input that includes a synchronization pattern, an information pattern, and a demodulation pattern. A periodic boundary is established along with a phase and frequency of a sampling clock based at least in part on the synchronization pattern. The information pattern is processed using the sampling clock to determine a location fix. The sampling clock is phase shifted by a skew amount and a phase shifted sampling clock is provided. The demodulation pattern is processed using the phase shifted sampling clock.
