  • Patent number: 9921152
Abstract: Methods and systems for performing simultaneous spectroscopic measurements of semiconductor structures at ultraviolet, visible, and infrared wavelengths are presented herein. In another aspect, wavelength errors are reduced by orienting the direction of wavelength dispersion on the detector surface perpendicular to the projection of the plane of incidence onto the detector surface. In another aspect, a broad range of infrared wavelengths are detected by a detector that includes multiple photosensitive areas having different sensitivity characteristics. Collected light is linearly dispersed across the surface of the detector according to wavelength. Each different photosensitive area is arranged on the detector to sense a different range of incident wavelengths. In this manner, a broad range of infrared wavelengths are detected with high signal to noise ratio by a single detector. These features enable high throughput measurements of high aspect ratio structures with high throughput, precision, and accuracy.

  • Patent number: 9910691
Abstract: Provided is a virtual interface, a “Forwarder” and a Virtual Block Storage Device (VBSD). The virtual interlace is the interface between a Command/Response Queue (CRQ), which receives CRQ commands from a hypervisor, and a common interface of the Forwarder. The Forwarder receives I/O commands in a format associated with the common interface and converts the commands into a generic I/O format. The reformatted command is transmitted to the VBSD. The hypervisor sends a read or write (R/W) request to the virtual interface, which passes the request to the Forwarder. The Forwarder receives the request, converts the request into a form readable by the VBSD and transmits the converted request to the VBSD. The VBSD transmits the request to a block storage device and returns the response to the Forwarder. The Forwarder replies to the request from the virtual interface with the response from the ABSD. The virtual interface then responds to the hypervisor.

  • Patent number: 9905694
Abstract: Device structures for a fin-type field-effect transistor (FinFET) and methods for fabricating a device structure for a FinFET. A fin comprised of a semiconductor material having a first crystal structure is formed. A dielectric layer is formed that includes an opening aligned with the fin. A dummy gate structure is removed from the opening in the dielectric layer. After the dummy gate structure is removed, a section of the fin aligned with the opening is implanted with non-dopant ions to amorphize the first crystal structure of the semiconductor material of the fin. After the section of the fin is implanted, the section of the fin is annealed such that the semiconductor material in the section of the fin recrystallizes with a second crystal structure incorporating internal strain.

  • Patent number: 9857292
Abstract: A rotatable compensator configured to transmit non-collimated light over a broad range of wavelengths, including ultraviolet, with a high degree of retardation uniformity across the aperture is presented. In one embodiment, a rotatable compensator includes a stack of four individual plates in optical contact. The two thin plates in the middle of the stack are made from a birefringent material and are arranged to form a compound, zeroth order bi-plate. The remaining two plates are relatively thick and are made from an optically isotropic material. These plates are disposed on either end of the compound, zeroth order bi-plate. The low order plates minimize the sensitivity of retardation across the aperture to non-collimated light. Materials are selected to ensure transmission of ultraviolet light. The optically isotropic end plates minimize coherence effects induced at the optical interfaces of the thin plates.

  • Publication number: 20170372808
Abstract: Improvements to atom interferometers. An improved atom interferometer has a single polarization-preserving fiber, coupled for propagation of beams of two Raman frequencies, and a parallel displacement beamsplitter for separating the laser beams into respective free-space-propagating parallel beams traversing at least one ensemble of atoms. A reflector generates one or more beams counterpropagating through the ensemble of atoms. Other improvements include interposing a beam-splitting surface common to a plurality of parallel pairs of beams counterpropagating through the ensemble of atoms, generating interference fringes between reflections of the beams to generate a detector signal; and processing the detector signal to derive at least one of relative phase and relative alignment between respective pairs of the counterpropagating beams.

  • Patent number: 9853055
Abstract: The migration of dislocations into pristine single crystal material during crystal growth of an adjacent conductive strap is inhibited by a conductive barrier formed at the interface between the layers. The conductive barrier may be formed by implanting carbon impurities or depositing Si:C layer that inhibits dislocation movement across the barrier layer, or by forming a passivation layer by annealing in vacuum prior to deposition of amorphous Si to prevent polycrystalline nucleation at the surface of single crystalline Si, or by implanting nucleation promoting species to enhance the nucleation of polycrystalline Si away from single crystalline Si.

  • Publication number: 20170356800
Abstract: Methods and systems for performing simultaneous spectroscopic measurements of semiconductor structures over a broad range of angles of incidence (AOI), azimuth angles, or both, are presented herein. Spectra including two or more sub-ranges of angles of incidence, azimuth angles, or both, are simultaneously measured over different sensor areas at high throughput. Collected light is linearly dispersed across different photosensitive areas of one or more detectors according to wavelength for each subrange of AOIs, azimuth angles, or both. Each different photosensitive area is arranged on the one or more detectors to perform a separate spectroscopic measurement for each different range of AOIs, azimuth angles, or both. In this manner, a broad range of AOIs, azimuth angles, or both, are detected with high signal to noise ratio, simultaneously. This approach enables high throughput measurements of high aspect ratio structures with high throughput, precision, and accuracy.

  • Patent number: 9838403
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for processing account registration by identifying account candidates attempting to open an account as abusive. That is, the present disclosure discusses identifying, and challenging and marking abusive account registration. The present disclosure takes into account users' behaviors on a network and the impact to the cost and/or revenue of the network. The present disclosure is proactive as it allows for actions to be taken at the earliest possible time in the registration process before an account is created. This prevents abusive activity from taking place within the network and effecting services and privileges available to legitimate users. Additionally, the effects of the disclosed systems and methods minimize the negative impacts of abusive activity on normal user accounts.

  • Publication number: 20170319098
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for performing phosphorous-31 spectroscopic magnetic resonance fingerprinting (MRF). The method comprises performing a pulse sequence using a series of varied sequence blocks to a volume in a subject where the volume contains phosphate metabolites. A series of signal evolutions are acquired from the volume in the subject to form MRF data. The MRF data is then compared to simulated MRF signal to determine parameters associated with phosphate metabolites and the chemical exchange rates between these metabolites. These parameters and exchange rates can be used in diagnosing a metabolic disorder in a subject.
