  • Publication number: 20230042000
Abstract: Method and systems provide a tool to quantify sensory maps of the brain. Cortical surfaces are conformally mapped to a topological disk where local geometry structures are well preserved. Retinotopy data are smoothed on the disk domain to generate a curve that best fits the retinotopy data and eliminates noisy outliers. A Beltrami coefficient map is obtained, which provides an intrinsic conformality measure that is sensitive to local changes on the surface of interest. The Beltrami coefficient map represents a function where the input domain is locations in the visual field and the output is a complex distortion measure at these locations. This function is also invertible. Given the boundaries and the Beltrami map of a flattened cortical region, a corresponding visual field can be reconstructed. The Beltrami coefficient map allows visualization and comparison of retinotopic map properties across subjects in the common visual field space.

  • Publication number: 20210341472
Abstract: The present disclosure provides modes of relative motion between a solid surface and a solution, and the related motion apparatuses. In an interaction between the solid surface and a target object, the target object is dissolved or dispersed in the solution, and the solid surface and the solution make a relative motion, with the relative motion including a relative movement perpendicular to the solid surface, in order to improve at least one of the following: binding rate, dissociation rate, binding uniformity, binding directionality and binding density of the target object to the solid surface. Compared with the traditional modes of relative motion in which the relative motion is parallel to a sensor surface, the modes of relative motion of the present disclosure can effectively improve the binding efficiency and dissociation efficiency between a ligand and an analyte given the same relative motion velocity between the sensor and the solution.

  • Publication number: 20060013505
Abstract: A method for analyzing, classifying, and recognizing geometric surfaces is disclosed. Geometric surfaces are treated as Riemann manifolds and the conformal structure corresponding to the surfaces is calculated. The conformal structure of the surface contains the intrinsic geometric information about the surface, but in a much more compact format as compared to other representations. Conformally mapping the surface to a canonical parameter domain, such as a disk, sphere, or plane retains the geometric information of the surface, and renders the calculation of conformal structure much easier. Various applications enabled by such a conformal representation include surface matching, surface cataloging, surface recognition, animation and morphing between surfaces, and other mathematical analysis.
