Abstract: Synthetic aggregates are fabricated from greater than approximately 70 wt % waste starting materials. Starting materials may be selected from granulated ground blast furnace slag, waste concrete fines, or sewage sludge ash, and mixtures thereof. The starting materials are bound together by a hydraulic cementitious binder either added to the starting materials or formed in situ. The waste starting materials, binder, and water are formed into pellets and subjected to a hydraulic reaction and carbonation in an atmosphere of greater than approximately 50% carbon dioxide at temperatures less than approximately 100° C. The resulting synthetic aggregate has a crush strength after a period of hardening equal to or greater than approximately 0.5 MPa.

Abstract: Compositions and methods for controlling pests are disclosed. In particular, methods for modulating the activity of Cry1Ba proteins against lepidopteran or coleopteran pests are provided. Further, mutant Cry1Ba proteins having modulated insecticidal activity compared to native Cry1Ba proteins are disclosed.

Abstract: A cable tie is provided with a wedge disposed within a passage extending through a head. The wedge is compressed within the passage when tension is applied to the strap. As a result, the wedge compresses the strap against an inner surface of the passage to restrain the strap.

Abstract: A real-time data management system for accessing data in a power grid that controls a transmission delay of real-time data delivered via a real-time bus, and delivers real-time data in a power grid. A unified data model covering various organizations and various data resource may be included. Multi-bus collaboration and bus performance optimization approaches may be used to improve efficiency and performance of the buses. An event integration and complex event process component may be included to provide status of the power grid. A high volume of real-time data and events may be managed to provide data transmission with a low latency, provide flexible extension of the number of data clusters and the number of databases to ensure high volume data storage, and achieve a high speed and transparent data access. Additionally, rapid design and development of analytical applications, and the near real-time enterprise decision-making may be enabled.

Abstract: A dual material cable tie includes a tail on a first end, a head on a second end, and an elongated strap extending therebetween. The strap and tail are substantially flat and formed from a first material. The tail can have teeth/ridges on one or both of the surfaces that extend outwardly from the surface(s). The head has a first portion, a second portion and a passage extending from a first end to a second end that receives the tail. A pawl is located in the passage and the second portion includes an exterior surface. The first portion of the head is made from a first material and the second portion is made from a second material that can be stiffer than the first material and the hardness of the second material can be the same or greater than the first material.

Abstract: Improved compositions and methods for controlling pests are disclosed. In particular, nucleic acid molecules encoding novel engineered Cry1Ba (eCry1Ba) proteins having improved toxicity to lepidopteran insect pests are provided. By substituting at least one amino acid in domain I of a Cry1Ba protein an engineered Cry1Ba protein having substantially altered insecticidal properties is designed. Further, methods of making and using the ecry1Ba nucleic acid sequences, for example in transgenic plants to express eCry1B proteins to confer protection from insect damage are disclosed.

Abstract: A framework for precision traffic analysis combines traffic sensor data from multiple sensor types, combining the strengths of each sensor type within various conditions in an intersection or roadway in which traffic activity occurs. The framework calibrates coordinate systems in images taken of the same area by multiple sensors, so that fields of view from one sensor system are transposed onto fields of view from other sensor systems to fuse the images taken into a combined detection zone, and so that objects are properly detected and classified for enhanced traffic signal control.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods for evaluating the whitening effect of oral care composition on a stained egg comprising staining an eggshell, applying the oral care composition to a portion of the stained eggshell to obtain a treated eggshell area, calculating a ?E value for the difference in color of the treated eggshell area compared to untreated stained eggshell when calculated in L*a*b color space, wherein the oral care composition comprises at least one high cleaning silica for stain removal. Further disclosed herein are methods for demonstrating the whitening effect of an oral care composition on a stained egg comprising showing an egg that has been stained to at least one consumer and brushing an oral care composition comprising at least one high cleaning silica for stain removal on a portion of the stained eggshell to obtain a treated eggshell area.
