Patent number: 10643354Abstract: Systems and methods for geometric calibration and image reconstruction in computed tomography (CT) scanning using iterative reconstruction algorithms are provided. An iterative reconstruction algorithm can be used to reconstruct an improved image, and then the improved image can be used to adjust inaccurate parameters by using a Locally Linear Embedding (LLE) method. Adjusted parameters can then be used to reconstruct new images, which can then be used to further adjust the parameters. The steps of this iterative process can be repeated until a quality threshold is met.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2016Date of Patent: May 5, 2020Assignee: Rensselaer Polytechnic InstituteInventors: Ge Wang, Mianyi Chen, Yan Xi, Wenxiang Cong

Publication number: 20190220924Abstract: Method, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media for determining a key variable in a model. One of the methods includes: inputting a first sample into a model to obtain a first result, wherein the first sample comprises a plurality of variables; for each of the variables in the first sample, replacing a value of the variable with a threshold corresponding to the variable to obtain a second sample; inputting the second samples into the model, respectively, to obtain a second result set comprising a plurality of second results; and determining, from the plurality of variables, a key variable having the highest impact on the first result based on a difference between the first result and each of the second results in the second result set.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 22, 2019Publication date: July 18, 2019Inventor: Yan XI

Publication number: 20180249979Abstract: Novel and advantageous systems and method for obtaining and/or reconstructing simultaneous computed tomography (CT)-magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images are provided. Structural coupling (SC) and compressive sensing (CS) techniques can be combined to unify and improve CT and MRI reconstruction. A bidirectional image estimation method can be used to connect images from different modalities, with CT and MM data serving as prior knowledge to each other to produce better CT and MRI image quality than would be realized with individual reconstruction.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2016Publication date: September 6, 2018Applicant: RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTEInventors: Ge WANG, Yan XI, Wenxiang CONG, Jun ZHAO

Publication number: 20170367664Abstract: An imaging method comprises the steps of: putting an object in a detection region, and biasing a detector (1-8) relative to the object; moving an imaging system along a longitudinal Z axis, enabling a ray source (1-7) and the detector (1-8) to synchronously perform circular movement around the object, performing scanning and data collection, and supplementing the data; and reconstructing the collected data to obtain a complete object image. The imaging method combines detector biasing and spiral scanning, solves the problem that an image splicing method used in conventional CT imaging generates artifacts, reduces the usage area of the detector, and reduces system cost.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 27, 2015Publication date: December 28, 2017Inventors: Yan Xi, Jun YAO, Minxu LI
