The second puncturing pattern is different than the first puncturing pattern to cause at least some bits of the coded data that were omitted in the first punctured coded bit sequence to be included in the second punctured coded bit sequence.

The method includes: receiving a first sector sweep (SSW) frame from a first station on a first channel; receiving a second SSW frame from a second station on a second channel; processing the first and second SSW frames to determine corresponding first and second sector sweep feedback (SSW-feedback) frames; and transmitting the first and second SSW-feedback frames to the first and second stations, respectively, wherein the second SSW frame may be orthogonal to the first SSW frame, and wherein the first SSW frame may be spread using a first spreading sequence, the second SSW frame may be spread using a second spreading sequence, and wherein the first and second spreading sequences are mutually orthogonal.

    Abstract: Provided herein are techniques for making low-carbon steels with high surface hardness. A technique includes heating a low-carbon steel precursor material in a furnace to form molten steel material, increasing the free oxygen content of the molten steel material to a predetermined level, and then solidifying the molten steel material having the predetermined oxygen level to produce a steel structure by cooling the molten steel material at a predetermined cooling rate. The predetermined oxygen level and the predetermined cooling rate are effective to produce the low-carbon steel with a high surface hardness. The low-carbon steel may have inclusions smaller than about 1 ?m.

Network association and authentication can be performed in parallel, with association and authentication information elements included in common frames. Authentication information elements are included in at least one and potentially a sequence of management frames transmitted between an access point of the wireless network and the device. The authentication information elements are thereby exchanged between the access point and the device. The exchanged authentication information elements are used to establish that both the access point and the device possess a common cryptographic key. The exchanged management frames can also facilitate network association. Authentication information elements can also be included in non-management frames. A format for the authentication information elements is presented.

In particular, new local solutions may be evaluated based on local performance criteria when the new solutions are in a global solution deemed to have satisfied a global performance criteria. New local solutions that satisfy their corresponding local performance criteria remain in the new global solution. New local solutions that do not satisfy their corresponding local performance criteria are replaced with a corresponding current local solution from a current global solution, thereby modifying the new global solution. The resulting modified global solution includes both new local solutions and current local solutions prior to being accepted as the current global solution for the next iteration.
