  • Publication number: 20070070032
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for reducing reverse bias in an electrophoretic display. The system and method include the application of varying levels of voltages across an array of electrophoretic display cells of the electrophoretic display to move the cells towards a stable state in a driving cycle. In addition, the system and method disconnect the voltages from the electrophoretic display cells at a time duration prior to reaching step transitions of the voltages during the driving cycle. Pre-driving approaches apply a first pre-driving voltage at a first polarity to the display cells before driving the display cells with a second driving voltage at a second, opposite polarity. Varying the time duration and amplitude of the pre-driving signals produces further beneficial reduction in reverse bias.

  • Patent number: 7066752
Abstract: A slide-in structure (210) inside a cradle set (200) for accommodating a personal digital assistant (PDA) module (10) is disclosed. The slide-in structure comprises a base plate (220), a sliding stand (230) and a pushing arm (240). A connector (204) of the cradle set is fastened to the sliding stand via a circuit board (206). The base plate has a pair of sidewalls (222, 224) and two sliding grooves (226) located on of the sidewalls. The two ends of the sliding stand are inserted into the respective sliding grooves so that the sliding stand is free to move relative to the sliding grooves. The pushing arm is in contact with the sliding stand. The pushing arm resiliently pushes the sliding stand to one side of the sliding grooves and provides a buffering force when the PDA module engages with/disengages from the connector in the cradle set.

  • Patent number: 6594994
Abstract: Micromechanical actuation apparatus includes a substrate with an actuator mounted on the substrate and a micro-transmission mounted on the substrate coupled to the electrothermal actuator. The actuator, such as an electrothermal actuator, is responsive to electrical power to drive two output beams inwardly or outwardly in opposite directions. The micro-transmission couples the force from the two output beams and transmits the displacement of the output beams to an output node of the micro-transmission. The amplification of the micro-transmission provides a much larger displacement of a beam connected to the output node than the displacement of the output beams of the actuator.

  • Publication number: 20030073337
Abstract: A cable end connector includes a casing inside which a connector body is retained. Two fasteners are mounted in the casing on opposite sides of the connector body.. Each fastener includes an elongate rod having opposite ends on which a knob and a threading are respectively formed. A C-ring is mounted on the rod for supporting a helical spring that biases the rod in a predetermined direction. The helical spring has a number of regular turns having an outside diameter and an additional turn having an inside diameter corresponding to the outside diameter of the regular turns. The additional turns surrounds the last one of the regular turns, forming a continuous end turn having no unsecured free end of the wire that makes the spring. The continuous end turn is arranged against the C-ring and the continuity thereof ensures and effectively maintains the abutting engagement between the helical spring and the C-ring.
