A sensing parameter is determined based on an exchange of messages between the UEs, where the sensing request from the first UE includes a first parameter, and the second UE may respond with a second parameter. The sensing parameter may specify roles, target identity, sensing periodicity, and result computation responsibilities. Depending on capability information, either UE may compute the sensing result after completing the operation. Complementary methods are also provided for the second UE to initiate or respond to sensing coordination with the first UE.
