  • Publication number: 20020009029
Abstract: A laser beam is irradiated from a pickup head on a disk. Light reflected by the disk is detected by the pickup head. The data is binarized by a data slice circuit, and a synchronizing clock and a synchronizing signal are extracted by a PLL and synchronizing signal separation circuit. The center frequency of the voltage controlled oscillator of the PLL and synchronizing signal separation circuit continuously changes according to a control voltage. A disk motor control circuit continuously changes the rotation speed of the disk in accordance with a control instruction from a system controller. The disk rotates at the highest rotation speed at which a data read operation is normally performed. The characteristics of the voltage controlled oscillator change in correspondence with the rotation speed of the disk.

  • Publication number: 20010028279
Abstract: A method for adjusting a voltage control type oscillator prevent changes in characteristics from occurring after adjustments and permits the oscillator to be produced at a low cost. The voltage control type oscillator includes a strip electrode provided on a first surface of a dielectric substrate and a ground electrode provided on a second surface of the dielectric substrate. The strip electrode and the ground electrode constitute a microstrip line resonator. In addition to the resonator, electric components are mounted on the first surface of the dielectric substrate. A case is attached to the dielectric substrate such that the case covers the strip electrode and the electronic components. After attaching the case, the strip electrode is trimmed by irradiating a laser beam from the second surface side of the dielectric substrate.

  • Patent number: 6236632
Abstract: Data read from a disk is input to an RF amplifier. An RF amplifier generates, based on bit data, an RF signal constituted by a plurality of components of mutually different frequencies. The RF amplifier determines a relation between the frequencies and gains on the basis of a control clock and adjusts the gains of respective components in the RF signals on the basis of the relation (equalize-processing). A PLL circuit has a first VCO and first frequency divider to generate a bit clock and generates, on the basis of an output signal of a data slice circuit, a first control voltage for controlling the first VCO. The first control voltage, being passed through a lowpass filter, is converted to a second control voltage for controlling a second VCO. The second VCO has an arrangement and characteristic substantially the same as those of the first VCO.
