  • Patent number: 8824512
Abstract: A video signal and an audio signal are TMDS transmitted from a source device to a sink device. Through a reserved line and a HPD line provided separately from a TMDS transmission line, an Ethernet™ signal is bidirectionally transmitted, and also, a SPDIF signal is transmitted from the sink device to the source device. The Ethernet™ signal bidirectionally transmitted between Ethernet™ transmitter/receiver circuits is differentially transmitted by an amplifier and is received by the amplifier. The SPDIF signal from a SPDIF transmitter circuit is common-mode transmitted from an adder and is received by the adder to be supplied to the SPDIF receiver circuit.

  • Patent number: 8799979
Abstract: [Object] To increase the usability for users without decreasing the security level. [Solving Means] A personal computer (PC) 10 is connected to a television receiver (TV) 30 using an HDMI cable 1. When a video signal is transmitted from the PC 10 to the TV 30, a TMDS channel in the HDMI cable 1 is used. A high-speed data line that performs bi-directional communication using predetermined lines of the HDMI cable 1 (e.g., a reserve line and an HPD line) is provided. In PC 10, a firewall is set. When, for example, being connected to the PC 10, the TV 30 transmits a firewall turn-off command to the PC 10. Alternatively, when, for example, performing data transmission using the high-speed data line provided between the TV 30 and the PC 10, the TV 30 transmits a firewall turn-off command to the PC 10. The security level and connectivity can be maintained without troublesome setting performed by the user and, therefore, the usability for users can be increased.

  • Patent number: 8755674
Abstract: New content is recorded onto a recording medium. Whether the current free recording capacity of the recording medium is sufficient to record the new content is determined. When the current free recording capacity of the recording medium is sufficient, the new content onto the recording medium is recorded. When the current free recording capacity of the recording medium is insufficient, a notification regarding the current free recording capacity of the recording medium is sent over a network to an information processing terminal, an instruction transmitted over the network by the information processing terminal is received, and at least a portion of prior content recorded on the recording medium is processed based on the instruction.

  • Patent number: 8713598
Abstract: An electronic device is disclosed. A signal transmission section transmits a video signal to an external device in a differential signal via a transmission path over a plurality of channels. A communication section executes bidirectional communication using a predetermined line constituting the transmission path. A signal reception section receives stream data received from the external device through the communication section, the stream data having been obtained by a broadcast reception section of the external device. An image analysis section executes image analysis on the stream data received by the signal reception section. A control section controls an operation of at least one of own electronic device and the external device based on a result of analysis obtained by the image analysis section.

  • Patent number: 8711908
Abstract: A player and an AV amplifier are connected via a cable. An amplifying device amplifies an output signal supplied to an output terminal 14, and outputs the amplified output signal as a transmission signal to the cable. An amplifying device amplifies an output signal supplied to an output terminal, and outputs the amplified output signal as a transmission signal to a cable. An operation device subtracts the output signal supplied to the output terminal from the transmission signal output to the cable. An operation device subtracts the output signal supplied to the output terminal from the transmission signal output to the cable. Therefore, the transmission signal from the AV amplifier is supplied to an input terminal, and the transmission signal from the player is supplied to an input terminal. The transmission signal includes a two-way communication bit indicating whether two-way communication is enabled.

  • Publication number: 20140111696
Abstract: Methods and systems for allowing a contents list of a video camera recorder to be smoothly displayed on a television receiver and improve the performance of a selecting operation on video content by a user. A video camera recorder (source device) 10A and a television receiver (sink device) 30A are connected through an HDMI cable 1. The video camera recorder 10A is provided with an HDMI transmission unit (HDMI TX) 28 and a high-speed data line I/F 28A. The television receiver 30A is provided with an HDMI reception unit (HDMI RX) 32 and a high-speed data line I/F 32A. In response to a transmission request from the television receiver 30A side, the video camera recorder 10A transmits, at high speed, additional information (contents list and thumbnail data) to the television receiver 30A by using a high-speed data line constituted by specific lines of the HDMI cable 1.

  • Patent number: 8698956
Abstract: A transmitting device includes a video-signal output unit, an image displaying unit, an information receiving unit, and a controller. The video-signal output unit outputs a video signal. The image displaying unit displays an image based on the video signal outputted from the video-signal output unit, on a first image display element. The signal transmitting unit transmits the video signal outputted from the video-signal output unit, to an external apparatus via a transmission path. The information receiving unit receives operational information transmitted from the external apparatus, on a display screen of a second image display of the external apparatus. The controller controls at least an operation of the video-signal output unit on the basis of the operational information received by the information receiving unit.

  • Publication number: 20140092211
Abstract: The present invention makes it possible to perform transmission of stereo image data between devices in a favorable manner. A source device (disc player 210) receives E-EDID from a sink device (television receiver 250) via DDC of an HDMI cable 350. This E-EDID contains information on 3D image data transmission modes that can be supported by the sink device. On the basis of the information on 3D image data transmission modes from the sink device, the source device selects a predetermined transmission mode from among the 3D image data transmission modes that can be supported by the sink device.

  • Patent number: 8670645
Abstract: [Object] To promptly decode and reproduce content of any encoding formats. [Solving Means] If a TV (1) judges that it cannot decode content to be viewed by a user, the TV (1) asks another apparatus such as a game apparatus (3) or PC (4) whether it can decode the content via a high-speed data line (150) capable of performing bidirectional IP communication in expanded HDMI and transmits the content and decoding request command thereof to an apparatus which has answered that it can perform decoding, via the high-speed data line (150). The game apparatus (3) or the PC (4) which has received the decoding request decodes the content and transmits the decoded content as a baseline signal to the TV (1) via TMDS channels in expanded HDMI so that the content is reproduced.

  • Patent number: 8649449
Abstract: A sending apparatus is configured to be able to support a plurality of transmission modes that use different occupied frequency bands in a channel. When user setting information indicates that electrical power consumption is reduced, a coordinator decides upon a transmission mode on a narrowly occupied frequency band side so long as a condition that a transmission rate necessary for transmission of digital information is satisfied. To make it possible to use a channel adjacent to a certain channel in sending of digital information from another sending apparatus, the coordinator changes a transmission mode whose occupied frequency band is wide to a transmission mode whose occupied frequency band is narrow for the transmission using the certain channel so long as a condition that the transmission rate necessary for the transmission of the digital information is satisfied.
