  • Publication number: 20020079633
Abstract: A liquid-encapsulated damper mount includes an outer member fixed to a vehicle body, and an inner member fixed to an upper end of a damper. The outer member and the inner member are connected to each other by first, second and third elastomer members. A first liquid chamber defined between the first and second elastomer members communicates with a second liquid chamber defined between the second and third elastomer members through a restriction. The restriction is defined in mating surfaces of the inner member and a ring member which are made of a metal and hence, even if the second elastomer member is deformed in any manner, the cross-sectional area of the restriction is not changed. Thus, when a load of a very low speed is inputted from a road surface, a stable damping force can be generated in the liquid-encapsulated damper mount, thereby preventing the resonance of an unsprung portion to enhance the riding comfort during traveling of a vehicle on a flat road.

  • Publication number: 20020037141
Abstract: An optical device has a supporting substrate including at least a surface layer and an etching stopper layer. The surface layer is etched to create a window in which the etching stopper layer or a lower supporting layer is exposed. An optical substrate, in which a lens element is formed, is mounted upright on the exposed floor of the etched window. Another optical element such as an optical fiber, a laser diode, or a photodiode is mounted on the surface layer. This optical element is easily aligned with the lens element by passive methods, by aligning the optical element and optical substrate in relation to marks on the upper surface of the supporting substrate, for example, or in relation to the sides of the window. Vertical alignment is automatically controlled by the thickness of the etched layers.

  • Publication number: 20020017750
Abstract: There is provided a difference in dynamic characteristics between one and the other of vibration isolating rubber members which are provided as a pair on left and right sides of an automotive vehicle. This causes a difference &dgr; in phase between vibrations transmitted via the left and right vibration isolating rubber members , and vibrations from the left and right vibration isolating rubber members cancel each other, whereby the vibration of the body of the automotive vehicle can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6273406
Abstract: A first bushing rubber and a first collar are integrally fixed to an outer periphery of a left end of an inner tube which supports a spherical portion of a support shaft for rotation through a bearing. A second bushing rubber and a second collar are integrally fixed to an inner periphery of a right end of an outer tube which is disposed outside the inner tube. A liquid chamber, containing a liquid encapsulated therein, is defined between the first and second bushing rubbers by axially placing the outer tube over the outside of the inner tube, fixing the outer tube to the first collar by caulking, and fixing the second collar to the inner tube by press-fitting. Thus, it is possible to easily determine the spring characteristics of the first and second bushing rubbers and the sectional shape of the liquid chamber.

  • Patent number: 6224046
Abstract: A fluid-filled bushing for supporting on a vehicle body an end portion of a suspension arm. The bushing is designed such that the frequency to keep the dynamic spring constant of the fluid-filled bushing to a minimum, or the frequency to keep the loss coefficient of the same to a maximum is set in the vicinity of the rigid resonance frequency f0 (for example, 600 Hz) of the suspension arm. As a result, a transmission force (transmission force N=resonance magnification &ugr;×dynamic spring constant K*) due to the vibration in the vicinity of the above-mentioned rigid resonance frequency transmitted from the road surface through the suspension arm is reduced, so that it is possible to improve road noise.

  • Patent number: 6070862
Abstract: An outer sleeve and an inner sleeve are connected to each other by an elastomeric member. Main liquid chambers and subsidiary liquid chambers, circumferentially connected to the main liquid chambers, are defined between the elastomeric member and the outer sleeve and communicate with each other through orifices. When a large load is input in directions X and X', the volume of the main liquid chambers are decreased, thereby causing the liquid forced out of the main liquid chambers to flow through the orifices, so that a damping force is produced by a resistance, due to a liquid, generated during flowing of the liquid. When a load in directions Z and Z' is input by a load in the directions X and X', the volume of the subsidiary liquid chambers adjoining the main liquid chambers is decreased, thereby causing the liquid, forced out of the subsidiary liquid chambers, to flow through the orifices, thus producing a damping force.

  • Patent number: 5975509
Abstract: First, second, third and fourth liquid chambers including a liquid encapsulated therein are defined by disposition of first and second elastomeric members between outer and inner sleeves. The first and second liquid chambers communicate with each other through a first orifice having a relatively large diameter, and the first and third liquid chambers communicate with the second and fourth liquid chambers through a second orifice having a relatively small diameter. When a small load is input, the first and second liquid chambers are deformed to cause the liquid to pass through the first orifice, so that a relatively small damping force is produced by a resistance due to the liquid passing through the first orifice. When a large load is input, the third and fourth liquid chambers are deformed to cause the liquid to pass through the second orifice, so that a relatively large damping force is produced by a resistance due to the liquid passing through the second orifice.

  • Patent number: 5947455
Abstract: A vibration-proof mount includes an inner shell member comprised of a center pipe and a bush, and an outer shell member including a first collar and a second collar. The center pipe and the outer shell member are connected to each other by first and second elastomer members with a liquid encapsulated therein. A liquid chamber is formed between the first and second elastomer members and expanded and contracted in volume by a load, and an orifice is defined in the first elastomer member and connected to the liquid chamber. The orifice is formed by only a wall surface of the first elastomer member and hence, the sectional area of a flow path in the orifice can be insured to prevent a difference in characteristic between individuals of the vibration-proof mount, as compared with the case where the orifice is defined between a plurality of members.

  • Patent number: 5947454
Abstract: To achieve a lowering of a dynamic spring constant in an air column resonance region of a tire without increasing the hardness of an elastic body of a liquid-encapsulated bushing, an outer tube and an inner tube are connected by a bushing rubber. Front liquid chambers and rear liquid chambers are placed in communication with each other by first communication passages. The upper liquid chambers and the rear liquid chambers are placed in communication with each other by second communication passages and a third communication passage. If a load of 80-250 Hz is input in a Z-Z' direction, the peak of the dynamic spring constant is shifted toward a higher-frequency side by the third communication passage and a dynamic spring constant in the air column resonance region (220-250 Hz) of a tire is lowered, thereby reducing road noise.

  • Patent number: 5927697
Abstract: A liquid-encapsulated anti-vibration device is provided having an inner shell and an outer shell connected to each other by means of a first elastomeric member, a second elastomeric member and a diaphragm. A main liquid chamber is defined between the first and second elastomeric members and changed in volume by the axial movement of the inner and outer shells relative to each other. A subsidiary liquid chamber is defined between the first elastomeric member and the diaphragm. The main and subsidiary liquid chambers communicate with each other by a constriction extending axially through the first elastomeric member. Since the diaphragm is mounted independently from the first elastomeric member, the size and shape of the constriction, defined in the first elastomeric member, cannot be limited by the diaphragm.
