  • Patent number: 7052835
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of screening genes based on expression information differing from gene expression information obtainable by DNA chip/DNA microarray techniques. The method of screening genes comprises performing in situ hybridization in respect of a tissue or cell sample from an organism using a probe which specifically hybridizes with mRNA and/or expression sequence tag being a product of gene expression, and examining localization of the mRNA and/or expression sequence tag in the tissue or cell.

  • Publication number: 20060091890
Abstract: A current to be applied to a ground is defined as the sum of two sinusoidal waves having first and second frequency components. A signal to be used at the time of synchronous detection is defined as a difference between the sinusoidal waves having the first and second frequency components. As a result, a substance in the ground, and the position and depth of the substance can be specified with high accuracy.

  • Publication number: 20050223708
Abstract: The invention is intended to maintain turbine reliability when, based on a gas turbine designed for one desired cycle, a gas turbine for another different cycle is manufactured. A channel of a compressor is formed such that a mass flow of a fluid compressed by the compressor changes. Thus, when manufacturing, based on the gas turbine designed for one desired cycle, the gas turbine for another different cycle, turbine reliability can be maintained.

  • Patent number: 6918645
Abstract: In a thermal transfer printer driven by a battery power source, to perform a print operation, the remaining capacity level of the battery power source (remaining battery capacity level) is detected by a voltage detector immediately before paper is fed out of a paper cassette and transferred for printing. The detected remaining battery capacity level is compared with a criterion level, which is a print-driving power required for one sheet of paper. If the remaining battery capacity level is lower than the criterion level, control is performed to stop the commencement of a print-driving operation. Thereby, the battery-driven printer averts printing from being terminated partway because of depletion in the battery power, and furthermore, enables printed sheets of the paper to utmost be increased.

  • Patent number: 6884281
Abstract: First, the overall quantity of bubbles in a coating liquid is reduced in advance by vacuum deaeration performed in conjunction with preparation of the coating liquid in a stirring tank in a first step, then bubbles of relatively large sizes, of bubbles that have not been removed in the first step are removed by a tank type deaeration device with ultrasonic waves in a floatation tank in a second step, and finally bubbles of very small to small sizes that are difficult to remove in the first and second steps are dissolved in the liquid under pressure with ultrasonic waves and thereby removed in a pipeline in a third step. According to this, bubbles in the coating liquid can reliably be removed irrespective of the nature of the coating liquid, a large amount of coating liquid can be treated, and the possibility that the quality of the deaerated coating liquid is adversely affected is eliminated.

  • Publication number: 20040258943
Abstract: A honeycomb body, which is composed in such a manner that a strip of corrugated foil made of heat-resistant stainless steel containing aluminum and a strip of flat foil made of stainless steel are alternately wound or laminated on each other, is incorporated into an outer cylinder made of metal and integrated into one body by means of diffusion bonding, so that a diffusion bonded metallic catalyst carrier can be formed. Surface roughness of the strip of foil after the completion of diffusion bonding is 0.001 to 2.0 &mgr;m when it is expressed by center line average height Ra, and no sintered bridges are formed at both end portions of the diffusion bonded section in the longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 6624834
Abstract: If printing is commenced while a relay is supplying power supply voltage from a battery to a power supply controller, a control circuit outputs a power supply switching prohibition signal to a permission/prohibition circuit. Even if an AC adapter is connected during printing, the relay will not be switched by an ON signal from an input voltage determination circuit. Once the printing is completed, the power supply switching prohibition signal is stopped, and a switch is made to power supply input from the AC adapter. As a result, even if an AC power supply is connected during printing, this will not cause the printing to take a longer time, and will prevent a decrease in printing quality.
