  • Patent number: 7680983
Abstract: The storage system includes a disk drive and a processor, the processor serving as a file system input/output processing unit and a block input/output processing unit. In the storage system, the block input/output processing unit provides, to the file system input/output processing unit, storage areas of the disk drive as plural volumes including a first volume, a second volume, and a third volume, the second volume storing a block write history, the third volume storing replication data of the first volume at a specific time. The block input/output processing unit refers to the block write history in the second volume to overwrite the replication data in the third volume with replication data of the first volume being at a different time from the specific time. The block write history in the second volume further includes information about which block is associated with which file.

  • Patent number: 7647497
Abstract: Provided is a storage system for solving the problem in that, when the registration of a nonexistent user is deleted, only a system administrator can access files that the user left, so that a load placed on the administrator increases at the time of an audit. The authentication program for permitting a user, who is attempting to log in to a storage system, to access a file recorded in the storage system, the program including: a first step for receiving a user name and a password from the user; a second step for referring to a validity term corresponding to a pair of the user name and the password recorded in the storage system; and a third step for permitting access by the user to a file corresponding to the validity term based on a result of the second step, the first to third steps being executed by a processor.

  • Patent number: 7565572
Abstract: High speed differential copy can be implemented in the fail-back after disaster recovery when the data of the primary site is protected safely. When a restore command is issued, the common snapshots of the snapshots of the primary site and the secondary site are extracted as the base snapshot by comparing the log tables of the primary site and secondary site. The volume of the primary site is rolled back with the extracted snapshots. The latest snapshot of the volume of the secondary site is transmitted to the primary site and it is applied to the volume of the primary site to synchronize the volumes of the primary site and the secondary site.

  • Publication number: 20090077134
Abstract: To ensure the consistency of data included in blocks which have already been received and has already been remote-copied, on a file basis, in a destination NAS system, when remote copy has failed due to a failure which has occurred in a source NAS system, there is provided a method in which: a source NAS system transmits a correspondence between an updated block and a file, to a destination NAS system when remote copy is started; the destination NAS system records a remote copy state for each block; a management server refers to the information recorded by the destination NAS system and selects files from which all the update blocks have been received, when remote copy has failed due to a failure which has occurred in the source NAS system; and the destination NAS system stores data included in the update blocks of the files selected by the management server.

  • Publication number: 20090077087
Abstract: Each time the file access request is received, it is discriminated whether there is an ACL which corresponds with the file system of the type following the switching in the file designated by the file access request. In cases where the judgment result is that there is no such ACL, an ACL which corresponds with the file system of the type following the switching is generated on the basis of an ACL which corresponds with the file system of the type prior to the switching which is associated with the designated file, and the ACL thus generated is used to control access in accordance with the received file access request.

  • Publication number: 20090077201
Abstract: A computer apparatus which integrates at least two or more services of user management domains has a processor, a memory and an interface. The processor receives an access request, specifies an access source domain, specifies an access target domain, and judges whether the specified access source domain matches the specified access target domain. If the access source domain is different from the access target domain, the processor extracts a user ID of the specified access source domain from the received access request, and refers to ID conversion information indicating correspondence of user IDs between the user management domains whose services are integrated to convert the extracted user ID of the access source domain into a user ID of the specified access target domain. Thus, loads of configuration at the time of service integration are reduced.

  • Publication number: 20090055608
Abstract: In a computer system that executes remote copy of differential data between snapshots, data overflow in a differential volume of a secondary site is prevented when update data of a primary volume increases in amount. A controller of a primary site predicts whether or not data overflow happens in the differential volume of the secondary site and, predicting that data overflow happens, delays data write processing in which a host computer writes data in the primary volume by a given period of time.

  • Publication number: 20080294844
Abstract: A storage controller is provided to prevent access performance from dropping. The storage controller comprises a processor unit, a network controller, and a cache memory, and a disk controller connected to a logical volume. The processor unit includes: a file creating module which creates a file in the logical volume; an arrangement information management module which manages information on an arrangement of the file created in the logical volume; and a file presenting module which presents the file as a virtual volume based on the arrangement information stored in the cache memory.

  • Patent number: 7198415
Abstract: The present invention provides an optical receptacle that reduces the fluctuation of the optical coupling efficiency with the optical plug. The optical receptacle of the invention comprises a stub with a filler therein and a sleeve assembly to receive the optical plug. The stub with a cylindrical shape has an opening in the side where the optical plug is to be in contact thereto and a bore in the other side. The diameter of the opening is comparable to that of the core of the external fiber, while the diameter of the bore is greater than that of the opening. The filler exposes in this opening to couple with the external optical fiber. Thus, the optical coupling efficiency between the filler and the external fiber may enhance and the fluctuation thereof due to the insertion/extraction of the optical plug can be reduced.
