  • Patent number: 9807348
Abstract: In the case where an imaging apparatus is not able to detect the distance to an object placed over an imaging surface thereof, if the area of a bright region in an image of the object captured by an imaging unit with light emitted from a light emitting unit is equal to or greater than a predetermined area, the imaging apparatus determines that the object is close to the imaging apparatus. Thus, it becomes possible to let the user know that the palm is too close to the imaging apparatus and to prompt the user to move the palm away from the imaging apparatus. Accordingly, it becomes possible to smoothly capture an image of the object.

  • Publication number: 20130294658
Abstract: A biometric information acquisition apparatus acquires biometric information to be used for verification. The biometric information acquisition apparatus includes a blood flow increasing unit, a biometric information acquiring unit, a feature amount evaluating unit, and a reacquisition determining unit. The blood flow increasing unit increases blood flow of an object person. The biometric information acquiring unit acquires the biometric information from the object person. The feature amount evaluating unit evaluates the feature amount of the acquired biometric information. The reacquisition determining unit determines whether to cause the blood flow increasing unit to operate and then cause the biometric information acquiring unit to reacquire the biometric information when the evaluated feature amount does not reach a predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 7725733
Abstract: A biometrics authentication device uses biometrics information to perform individual authentication. Primary and secondary verification of biometrics characteristic data from an image capture device are performed by a control unit and IC card. The biometrics character data is scrambled and transmitted between devices. The second registration data which is more important to authentication is stored within the IC card, and first registration data is registered in the IC card in a scrambled state. Security is improved, and moreover the load on the CPU of the IC chip in the IC card is reduced.

  • Patent number: 7660992
Abstract: An electronic data storage system stores electronic data with attaching an electronic signature, and output the electronic data along with the attached electronic signature, which decreases the operation costs with a simple operation. By using a public key-based signature, a third party can verify the data, and by using a secret check code, the electronic signature at registration is always valid without risk of falsification. Also by attaching an electronic signature at access, the validity of the stored data is assured, and a third party can verify the data. By using all of these features, the verification by a third party becomes possible over the long term. In this way the long term storage of electronic data is implemented.

  • Patent number: 7469263
Abstract: A content management system manages an original of electronic data content and is capable of handling increases in the volume of electronic data and maintains uniqueness of the original. Serial content management or processing history is managed by an original management device, and content data alone is archived on portable media with media IDs. Therefore, increases in the volume of electronic data can be easily handled, a history of updates to the original can be managed by the system, and uniqueness of the original can be confirmed by the media IDs because the medium-specific media IDs are treated as original data.

  • Patent number: 6795834
Abstract: When a sweeping process and a backup process are performed on an electronic library file in an electronic library, a file storing a history of the sweeping process or a history of a backup process is generated, and the sweeping and the backup processes are managed. Thus, a user can easily manage as to which medium an original document has been swept to or where a backup copy of the original document is. If the uniqueness of the original document shown in a sweep history and a backup history can be secured, the problem that there can be a plurality of original documents on the storage media of a plurality of electronic libraries can be avoided.
