Abstract: A method for updating a message on a plurality of devices from a single device comprising a Configuration Program (CP), an Audio Device Update Program (ADUP), and a Text Device Update Program (TDUP). Using the CP, the user may enable and disable the present invention, add or delete devices, create and save messages, select existing messages to play to callers or display to senders, enable automated status updates, enable multiple message levels, or enable availability updates. The automated status update automatically creates messages from the user's calendar. The multiple message levels are a hierarchy of messages in which the message sent to a caller or sender based on their identity. The availability update communicates the user's next available time to the caller or sender. The ADUP and TDUP select the appropriate message to play or send based on whether automated status updates, multiple message levels, and availability updates are enabled.

Abstract: A system, a method, and a computer readable media for identifying a log file record in a log file are provided. The log file has a plurality of log file records therein. The plurality of log file records has a repeating pattern of log file records. The method includes displaying a first graphical user interface on a display device. The method further includes selecting the log file utilizing the first graphical user interface. The method further includes analyzing the log file to determine the repeating pattern of log file records. The method further includes selecting a first command button on the first graphical user interface that executes an algorithm to analyze additional log file records that were automatically added to the log file by a software program. The additional log file records are associated with the repeating pattern of log file records.

Abstract: Methods and arrangements of text entry are discussed. Embodiments include transformations, code, state machines or other logic to index segments of text from multiple sources and receive segments of text being entered into text-entry applications in a floating application. The embodiments may also involve matching the segments of text to indexed segments of text and entering completions of the received segments of text into the text-entry applications. The completions may be based upon the matching, and the completion of a segment may be entered into the text-entry application from which it was received.

Abstract: A system, a method, and a computer readable media for identifying a user-initiated log file record in a log file are provided. The log file has a user-initiated log file record and a repeating pattern of log file records automatically generated by a software program. The system allows a user to identify first and second timestamp values corresponding to first and second times which identify a time interval of interest in the log file. The system further analyzes the log file to identify the user-initiated log file record having a timestamp value between the first and second timestamp values. The system further identifies the repeating pattern of log file records in the log file.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and media are disclosed for managing the routing of an email at the server level to an email client by preferences set in a routing application located on the server. One embodiment includes querying, by a routing application located on a server and associated with an email system, the email by comparison to conditions for each preference set in the routing application, wherein a preference comprises a routing action. Further, the method includes identifying, based on the querying and by the routing application, a match between the email and at least one of the conditions. Further still, the method includes performing, based on the match and by the routing application, the preference associated with the at least one of the conditions of the email, whereby the email is transmitted to an email client.

Abstract: A system and method for preventing user-input text strings of illegal lengths from being submitted to a database where, for each character in the string, a character length is determined in quantities of digital units of storage according to an encoding schema, the character lengths are accumulated into a total string length, also measured in digital units of storage, and the total string length is compared to one or more database input field requirements such as non-null and maximum length specifications. If a limit is not met, the system and method are suitably disposed in a manner to block or prevent submission of the user-input string to the database. Overflow sub-strings are extracted and stored from input strings which exceed the input length limit, and are further processed to yield additional storage and resource allocation.

Abstract: The invention is a demand-based messaging system that enables a user to mark any location in a message and share the mark with a second user. The invention comprises a messaging program operable on a plurality of computers connected by one or more communications media. The program configures a first computer to accept message data, including markers and links, from a user. A marker identifies a specific location within message data, and a link refers to a specific marker within message data. The program further configures the first computer to transfer message data to a second computer. The program further configures the second computer to display the message data as it is received, and to synchronize the display with a marker when a user activates a link that refers to the marker.

Abstract: The invention is a data processing means wherein human perceptible elements of electronic information are gathered, prepared, formatted, or otherwise processed in forming a unified collection of such information storable as a distinct entity. In particular, the invention is a process for composing and displaying a consolidated message document. The preferred embodiment of the invention is a computer program that configures a general-purpose computer to implement the inventive process. Responsive to a user's selection of a message, the inventive process identifies all related messages that the user has received, inserts the related messages into a consolidated message document, and displays the consolidated message document on the user's output device.

Abstract: A document merging method and system. The method includes receiving by a computing system from a first user, a plurality of documents and a command for tagging portions of each document according to various parameters. The computing system assigns identification tags to the portions of each document. The computing system receives from a second user, a command for generating a merged document. The computing system receives a selection of a first identification tag associated with a first document and a selection of a second identification tag associated with a second document. The computing system generates a merged document comprising a first portion of the first document and said second portion of the second document. The computing system stores the merged document.

Abstract: A table converter is disclosed that enables a user to convert any table, or portion of a table, displayed on a web page to a spreadsheet control embedded in the webpage. The table converter is a web browser plug-in or feature comprising a table analysis program (TAP); a table conversion program (TCP), a spreadsheet configuration program (SCP), a spreadsheet modification program (SMP), a configurable table engine (CTE), and a configurable table template (CTT). The CTE contains a rules database. The TAP interrogates the highlighted hypertext markup language (HTML) table structure <table>, <tr>, <th> and <td> tags, and text for delimiters. The TCP maps the table headings and data to a configurable table engine (CTE). The CTE inserts the headings and data into a configurable table template (CTT), and displays the CTT on the web page at a user configurable location.

Abstract: A Centralized Authentication & Authorization (CAA) system that facilitates secure communication between service clients and service providers. CAA comprises a Service Request Filter (SRF), a Service Client Authentication Program (SCAP), a Service Authorization Program (SAP), and an Authorization Database (ADB). The SRF intercepts service requests, extracts the service client's identifier from a digital certificate attached to the request, and stores the identifier in memory accessible to service providers. In the preferred embodiment, the SRF forwards the service request to a web service manager. The web service manager invokes SCAP. SCAP matches the identifier with a record stored in ADB. SAP queries ADB to determine if the service request is valid for the service client. If the service request is valid, SAP authorizes the service request and the appropriate service provider processes the service request.

Abstract: An Operation Modification Program is disclosed that alters the functions performed with a user input device in conjunction with a Drop Down Menu Program. The Drop Down Menu Program provides for the elimination of some manual steps required by a user when employing a user input device for operations involving activation, selection, sorting and scrolling. The Operation Modification Program provides for modification of pointer device functions to eliminate additional manual steps that would be required by a user with the Drop Down Menu Program. The user may configure the modifications or the user may operate using default settings. Five modifications are provided: pointer-over, pointer-over-with-highlighting, pointer-over-with-clicking, pointer-over-with highlighting-and-clicking, and pointer-movement. The five modifications provide for auto-detection, auto-determination, and auto-execution thereby eliminating one or more manual movements by a user.

Abstract: Methods and arrangements of text entry are discussed. Embodiments include transformations, code, state machines or other logic to select segments of text from text files based upon the number of words in phrases of the text files, upon the number of letters in words of the text files, or upon other patterns of the text in the text files. The text files may include web sites and news indexes. Embodiments may also involve indexing the selected segments of text, matching text currently being entered by the user (current text) into an application to a portion of a segment of the indexed text, and entering a remaining portion of the segment of the indexed text into the application based upon the matching. In some embodiments, the matching may be based upon an attribute of text such as a time period, a source, or a recipient.

Abstract: In a graphical user interface or other similar processing environment, functionality is provided that enables the selecting of multiple portions of non-contiguous content, and enables such functionality within the same application and also across different applications. Further, a “direct save” function is enabled that allows the user to directly save the multiple portions of selected content to a file. In addition, selected content portions can be categorized, and a mechanism is provided to allow the user to conveniently make use of these various categories for effective content viewing.

Abstract: An example of a solution provided here comprises receiving a text definition signal, defining a first portion of text for folding, receiving a signal for hiding, and in response to the signal for hiding, displaying to at least one user a text view without the first portion, and a clue as to what is hidden.

Abstract: The disclosed invention is an improvement to a demand-based messaging system that enables multiple message recipients to coordinate responses to the message. The improved messaging system comprises a messaging program that provides an interface through which a recipient can indicate an intent to reply to the message. The messaging program then transmits this intent to other messaging programs so that other recipients receive the intent as status information when they open the message.

Abstract: A weighted search program is disclosed. The weighted search program may be integrated into a translation program, or the weighted search program may be used independently with an available search engine. When integrated with the translation program, setting and weighting may be combined in a single search. In one embodiment, the weighting would be used in conjunction with a Pin Yin translation program so that a user could set some terms, and allocate a search weight to the remaining terms. The invention may be applied independently in Internet searching so that a user can apply weights to multiple elements of a search term.

Abstract: A system for automatically tuning a primary broadcast receiver using a secondary broadcast receiver to receive a first broadcast signal corresponding to a source of an origin program, one or more program transition detectors to monitor first broadcast signal tuned by the secondary broadcast receiver to determine and signal a transition from a non-original program content to origin program content while a user views or hears alternate programming from a primary broadcast receiver, and automatically tuning of the primary broadcast receiver to the first broadcast signal upon detection by the program transition detector that one or more of user-specific tune conditions have been met.

Abstract: Authentication of cellular telephone device by providing a first one-time pad cryptological table to a security server which has multiple sequenced One Time Pad value entries including a previous use indicator initialized as “unused”, and providing a second one-time pad cryptological table to an authentic device initially synchronized with the first table. A cloned copy of the second table is stored in an inauthentic cellular telephone device, these third table being initially synchronized with the second table. The authentic device selects an unused entry in the second table and transmits it to the server when requesting service. If the received entry matches a next sequential unused entry in the first table, the server grants service, and both server and authentic device mark that entry as used. If the received entry does not match a sequentially next unused entry in the first table, service is denied to the requesting device.

Abstract: A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer usable program product for managing a communications session. The process monitors a bandwidth of the communications device in response to detecting an exchange of audio-based messages on a communications device. In response to detecting the bandwidth below a threshold, the process converts a subsequent outgoing audio-based message into an outgoing text-based message and associates a low bandwidth indicator to the outgoing text-based message to form a distinguished text-based message. The process then transmits the distinguished text-based message for receipt by an intended recipient.
