  • Publication number: 20150197687
Abstract: A sandwich structure for enhancement of photoluminescence (PL) from luminescent films and the corresponding preparation method are disclosed. The sandwich structure comprises a support, a luminescent film grown on the support, and a close-packed dielectric microsphere monolayer deposited onto the luminescent film. The microspheres have high transmittance excitation light and emitted light, respectively. The low price of dielectric microspheres is beneficial to industrial applications. The stable chemical properties of dielectric microspheres make PL enhanced in a long term. Both metal and non-metal materials can be used as the support in the sandwich structure. These features significantly improve the technique of PL enhancement for luminescent films.

  • Publication number: 20120143611
Abstract: Hidden Markov Models HMM trajectory tiling (HTT)-based approaches may be used to synthesize speech from text. In operation, a set of Hidden Markov Models (HMMs) and a set of waveform units may be obtained from a speech corpus. The set of HMMs are further refined via minimum generation error (MGE) training to generate a refined set of HMMs. Subsequently, a speech parameter trajectory may be generated by applying the refined set of HMMs to an input text. A unit lattice of candidate waveform units may be selected from the set of waveform units based at least on the speech parameter trajectory. A normalized cross-correlation (NCC)-based search on the unit lattice may be performed to obtain a minimal concatenation cost sequence of candidate waveform units, which are concatenated into a concatenated waveform sequence that is synthesized into speech.

  • Publication number: 20110157584
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of calibrating a light source. In one embodiment, a standard image sensor is used to capture emitted light of a standard and a to-be-calibrated light source in order to obtain a standard and a nonstandard image, respectively. A standard and a nonstandard luminance response are generated according to the standard and the nonstandard image, respectively. The to-be-calibrated light source is adjusted until the nonstandard luminance response is about equal to the standard luminance response. In another embodiment, the standard image sensor is used to capture emitted light of the standard and the to-be-calibrated light source. According to sampled outputs of the standard image sensor, a standard and a nonstandard chrominance response are respectively generated, which are used to compensate an image sensor under test.
