    Abstract: An apparatus and method for continuously providing a selected service being watched when a user moves out of a cell or network in a Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) Convergence of Broadcasting and Mobile Service (CBMS) system. Information required for a handover is provided to a terminal using an interactive channel. The handover for the terminal can be performed using a conventional scheme and an enhanced scheme even when the user moves to a new cell while watching the selected service. As the enhanced handover scheme is provided, the user can receive a seamless service. In a mobile environment, a handover scenario for the terminal can be efficiently provided.

    Abstract: A method for transmitting an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) in a Convergence of Broadcasting and Mobile Service (CBMS) system is provided. A delivery path of ESG data is parsed. A first information element indicating transmission of a broadcast ESG when the ESG data can be delivered over a broadcast network is set. A second information element indicating transmission of a Point-to-Point (PTP) ESG for a terminal or a terminal group when the ESG data can be delivered over an interactive network in a PTP bearer is set. ESG delivery information is transmitted including at least one of the first and second information elements, to at least one terminal over at least one ESG bootstrap session for carrying information necessary for transmission of the ESG data. The broadcast ESG and the PTP ESG are transmitted to the at least one terminal over at least one delivery path out of the broadcast network and the interactive network.

A network entity aggregates information about a first service that can be provided by a current network and information about a second service of associated another network in order to generate service variation information indicating whether at least one of a language, a subtitle, and a camera angle of the second service is changed when compared to the first service, and transmits the service variation information to a terminal in the current network over a broadcasting network or an interactive network. The terminal can determine whether to receive the second service continuously from the first service from the other network using the service variation information.

When a terminal performs roaming from a home network to a visited network, the terminal receives an ESG from a neighboring network and determines whether to perform user roaming or to perform service roaming according to the received ESG. In this case, the visited network provides the terminal either with an encrypted ESG and a key for the encrypted ESG, or with non-encrypted ESG through a dedicated channel, so that it is possible to provide the ESG only to specified terminals.

A handover method includes receiving a first frame group header at a serving frequency, and receiving a burst of the desired service at the serving frequency according to a burst arrival time; calculating a first relative start time of a next frame group header; turning power off until a current time arrives at a next header arrival time; receiving a second frame group header at a searching frequency, and acquiring service information of the searching frequency necessary for handover to the searching frequency; returning to the serving frequency and turning the power off; and comparing signal power/quality of the listened frequencies with each other to select a best frequency, and switching to the selected frequency using the acquired corresponding service information.
