    Abstract: Disclosed is a method of forming gate structures for n-type and p-type transistors. The method includes: forming an interfacial layer and high-K (HK) dielectric layer for the gate structures; forming an n-type metal layer over the HK dielectric layer; forming a hard capping layer over the n-type metal layer while simultaneously strengthening the HK dielectric layer by fluorine passivation; patterning photo resist (PR) material over the hard capping layer that exposes a portion of the hard capping layer over the p-type transistor; removing the n-type metal layer and the hard capping layer over the p-type transistor via wet etching operations using high selectivity chemicals that are highly selective to the hard capping layer and the n-type metal layer; removing the patterned PR material while insulating, by the hard capping layer, gate structures from aluminum oxidation; and forming a p-type metal layer over the hard capping layer and the p-type transistor.

    Abstract: A three-dimensional orthogonal woven composite outlet guide vane and a manufacturing method are provided. Near-net-shaped manufacturing of the outlet guide vane is realized, and a vane profile-platform junction of the outlet guide vane is reinforced by designing a bifurcation of the preform. A basic structure of a three-dimensional orthogonal woven composite and a bifurcation of the vane profile-platform junction are used, so that the ultimate strength under tension, compression and bending of the outlet guide vane structure are significantly improved, and the weight of the outlet guide vane is reduced. Structural load bearing and force transmission functions of a strut are provided by the outlet guide vane while the functions of vane rectification, noise reduction and others are ensured. As a result, the weight and dimensions of an aeroengine, as well as structural complexity, are reduced by removing struts.

    Abstract: An Internet of Things device and method for controlling the flow of power to a device through remote instructions. The device may include a battery and a switch coupling the battery to a main circuit, the switch including a sensor detecting a first condition. While detecting the first condition, the switch may be open-circuited, decoupling the battery from the main circuit. While not detecting the first condition, the switch is close-circuited, coupling the battery to the main circuit and providing power. The device may further include a controller coupled to a wireless communications module, which may receive instructions from a remote server. These instructions may instruct the controller to send a disable signal to the switch, preventing the switch from becoming open-circuited when the sensor detects the first condition.

    Abstract: Unsupervised volumetric 3D animation (UVA) of non-rigid deformable objects without annotations learns the 3D structure and dynamics of objects solely from single-view red/green/blue (RGB) videos and decomposes the single-view RGB videos into semantically meaningful parts that can be tracked and animated. Using a 3D autodecoder framework, paired with a keypoint estimator via a differentiable perspective-n-point (PnP) algorithm, the UVA model learns the underlying object 3D geometry and parts decomposition in an entirely unsupervised manner from still or video images. This allows the UVA model to perform 3D segmentation, 3D keypoint estimation, novel view synthesis, and animation. The UVA model can obtain animatable 3D objects from a single or a few images. The UVA method also features a space in which all objects are represented in their canonical, animation-ready form. Applications include the creation of lenses from images or videos for social media applications.

    Abstract: An environment synthesis framework generates virtual environments from a synthesized two-dimensional (2D) satellite map of a geographic area, a three-dimensional (3D) voxel environment, and a voxel-based neural rendering framework. In an example implementation, the synthesized 2D satellite map is generated by a map synthesis generative adversarial network (GAN) which is trained using sample city datasets. The multi-stage framework lifts the 2D map into a set of 3D octrees, generates an octree-based 3D voxel environment, and then converts it into a texturized 3D virtual environment using a neural rendering GAN and a set of pseudo ground truth images. The resulting 3D virtual environment is texturized, lifelike, editable, traversable in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) experiences, and very large in scale.
