  • Publication number: 20040127361
Abstract: This invention involves a method for controlling plant diseases caused by fungal plant pathogens comprising applying to the plant or portion thereof, or to the plant seed or seedling, a fungicidally effective amount of a compound of Formula I (including all geometric and stereoisomers), N-oxides, agriculturally suitable salts and compositions thereof, wherein A is taken together with N—C═C to form a substituted fused pyridinyl ring; B is a substituted phenyl or pyridinyl ring; J is an optionally substituted linking chain of 2 to 5 members including at least one carbon member, optionally including one or two carbon members as C(═O), and optionally including one member selected from nitrogen and oxygen;W is C=L or SOn; L is O or S;R1 is H; or C1-C6 alkyl, C2-C6 alkenyl, C2-C6 alkynyl or C3-C6 cycloalkyl, each optionally substituted;R3 is H; or C1-C6 alkyl, C2-C6 alkenyl, C2191-C6 alkynyl or C3-C6 cycloalkyl, C2-C6 alkylcarbonyl, C2-C6 alkoxycarbonyl, C2-C6 alkylaminocarbonyl or C3-C8 dial

  • Patent number: 6750072
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for micro-fabricating a pixelless thermal imaging device. The imaging device up-converts a sensed 2-dimensional M/FIR image into a 2-dimensional image in the NIR to visible spectrum in dependence thereupon. A plurality of layers forming an integrated QWIP-LED wafer are crystallographically grown on a surface of a first substrate. The layers comprise an etch stop layer, a bottom contact layer, a plurality of layers forming a QWIP and a LED, and a top contact layer. At the top of the QWIP-LED wafer an optical coupler such as a diffraction grating for coupling at least a portion of incident M/FIR light into modes having an electric field component perpendicular to quantum wells of the QWIP is provided. In following processing steps the first substrate and the etch stop layer are removed. Various different thermal imaging devices are manufactured by changing the order of manufacturing steps, omitting some steps or using different materials.

  • Publication number: 20040053409
Abstract: Processes are described for making a cryopreserved Composite Living Construct (CCLC) as well as a corresponding thawed and rinsed CCLC, comprised of separated layers of cultured fibroblasts and cultured keratinocytes, wherein the percent of cells that are viable, i.e., the cell viability, of such CCLC is at least about 70%. The viable cell density in the CCLC is at least about 50% of that before cryopreservation. The storage stability of the CCLC is at least about 12 months. Additionally, the metabolic activity of thawed and rinsed CCLC is at least about 50% of the Composite Living Construct (CLC) before cryopreservation. The structural integrity of CCLC is substantially the same as the CLC before cryopreservation.

  • Patent number: 6645715
Abstract: The invention provides an in vitro avascular human corneal equivalent that comprises immortalized human cell lines. As these corneal equivalents are in vitro models, they are maintained in an incubator throughout the testing period, thereby eliminating the problems and expense associated with animal care. The corneal equivalent is preferably surrounded by a matrix in which angiogenesis (formation of capillary-like structures) can occur in vitro. This surrounding matrix has the potential to play the role of a pseudo-sclera, allowing the in vitro assessment of the cornea's angiogenic reaction to any substance or injury. Furthermore, the model is capable of being produced easily, is physiologically functional and can give predictable and quantifiable results when submitted to various drugs, chemicals and/or physical trauma.
