  • Patent number: 5772839
Abstract: A film applying apparatus includes a presser roll reciprocally movable toward and away from the leading end portion of a tacking member to force an adhesive tape against a cover film of the laminated film while the laminated film is held by suction on a surface at the leading end portion of the tacking member. The surface of the tacking member includes a first and a second beveled surface. When the presser roll is advanced by a presser roll actuating device, it rolls on from the first beveled surface to a leading end of the second beveled surface during which time the adhesive tape is firmly adhered to the cover film. Then the presser roll is retracted and, at the same time, the adhesive tape is pulled by an adhesive-tape pullback device in a direction away from the tacking member whereupon the cover film adhered to the adhesive tape is separated from the laminated film. After the tacking is completed, a film tensioning device is driven to pull the laminated film backward.

  • Patent number: 5738744
Abstract: A method and apparatus in which a succession of continuous films each composed of a support film, a photosensitive resin layer and a cover film laminated one above another are joined end to end and fed continuously while allowing the cover film to be separated. While the trailing end of a preceding continuous film is held by suction on a first suction device, the leading end of a succeeding continuous film drawn out from a succeeding film supply roll is bonded to a part of the adhesive surface of an adhesive single coated tape previously held by suction on a second suction device, and the remaining part of the adhesive surface of the adhesive single coated tape is forced against the trailing end of the preceding continuous film being held on the first suction device to thereby join the leading end and the trailing end via the adhesive single coated tape without forming an overlap.

  • Patent number: 5685943
Abstract: A film applying apparatus for applying a film including a photosensitive layer to a printed circuit board and the like, a film holding member for wrapping the leading edge of a film and stationary-knife support members are supported on the same fore-and-aft guide rails for synchronous reciprocating movement relative to a film passage plane; the film holding member is floatingly supported by floating mechanisms for movement in a direction perpendicular to a base-plate conveyance plane I--I; and the film holding member is driven by the tacking member via pressure mechanisms to move between a position in which it is spaced from the stationary-knife support members, and a position in which it comes in contact with the stationary-knife support members.

  • Patent number: 5389185
Abstract: In the liquid non-applying operation, an upper and a lower liquid receivers 90A and 90B are located in between a conveyance passage for a base plate 6 and an upper and a lower wet rollers 48A and 48B to prevent an air bubble generation preventive liquid from being applied from the wet rollers to the base plate. In that case, the base plate 6 is conveyed through between the liquid receivers 90A and 90B so that the plate does not come into contact with the wet rollers 48A and 48B. Slide members 114 and hold-down members 116 are provided for the liquid receivers 90A and 90B so that the receivers can be optionally moved in between and out from between the base plate conveyance passage and the wet rollers 48A and 48B to optionally perform either the liquid non-applying operation or the liquid applying operation.

  • Patent number: 5378273
Abstract: A base plate conveyor includes conveyance rollers for conveying a base plate to a prescribed position, and a base plate centering mechanism having right and left centerers for centering said base plate on said base plate conveyor. The conveyor further includes a device for moving the right and left centerer at a prescribed speed in a direction transverse to the direction of conveyance of the base plate. The moving device moves the centerers at the prescribed speed to such a position that the distance between the right and left centerers is slightly larger than a width of the base plate. The moving device thereafter moves the right and left centerers toward the base plate at a speed lower than the prescribed speed, such that the base plate is centered.

  • Patent number: 5356501
Abstract: A film applying apparatus includes upper and lower mounting members for upper and lower suction plates, which are driven by a servomotor through pinions and racks to move the suction plates to positions located at a prescribed distance from a base plate. Thereafter, power is applied to the upper and lower mounting members by common pneumatic cylinders to move the upper and lower suction plates from their positions toward the base plate to tentatively apply films to the upper and lower sides of the base plate. The tentative applying forces of the upper and lower suction plates are equal to each other. After the tentative film application, the suction plates are quickly moved away from the base plate. A film applying method also is provided.

  • Patent number: 5240545
Abstract: A base plate conveyor for conveying a base plate in a film adhering and peeling apparatus. The conveyor include a plurality of rollers which are capable of conveying the base plate between processing members disposed on opposite sides of the base plate. The base plate is capable of being positioned such that the center of the base plate coincides with the center point between the processing units, regardless of the thickness of the base plate. The conveyor further includes a mechanism for adjusting the transverse position of the base plate with respect to the direction of conveyance thereof. Also provided is a mechanism for applying an air bubble preventive agent to the base place such that air bubbles do not form between the base plate and the film adhered thereto.

  • Patent number: 5203756
Abstract: A pressurizing roller for use in a laminator to bond a film to a panel has a hollow outer shell and flanges on both ends. A roller shaft extending through the flanges and the outer shell transfers its angular moment of force via bearings directly to the flanges and via the flanges to the outer shell to provide uniform distribution of pressure by the roller outer shell to the film and panel. The outer shell is heated to a uniform temperature throughout.
