  • Patent number: 8323959
Abstract: Therapeutic methods and microorganisms therefor are provided. The microorganisms are designed to accumulate in immunoprivileged tissues and cells, such as in tumors and other proliferating tissue and in inflamed tissues, compared to other tissues, cells and organs, so that they exhibit relatively low toxicity to host organisms. The microorganisms also are designed or modified to result in leaky cell membranes of cells in which they accumulate, resulting in production of antibodies reactive against proteins and other cellular products and also permitting exploitation of proferating proliferating tissues, particularly tumors, to produce selected proteins and other products. Vaccines containing the microorganisms are provided. Combinations of the microorganisms and anti-cancer agents and uses thereof for treating cancer also are provided.

  • Publication number: 20120289397
Abstract: Provided is a method of fabricating a nano particle complex catalyst including generating a plasma ion of a solid element and performing plasma ion implantation to carry a catalyst component of the solid element in a porous carrier. In the method, a pulse direct current voltage is applied to the deposition source to generate the plasma ion of the solid element, and a synchronized voltage is applied to the porous carrier, thereby instantly applying a pulse high voltage to the solid element. The ionized solid element is accelerated toward the porous carrier by the pulse high voltage instantly applied to the solid element, thereby performing the ion implantation.

  • Patent number: RE43757
Abstract: A mechanical scanning stage for high speed image acquisition in a focused beam system. The mechanical scanning stage preferably is a combination of four stages. A first stage provides linear motion. A second stage, above the first stage, provides rotational positioning. A third stage above the rotational stage is moveable in a first linear direction, and the fourth stage above the third stage is positionable in a second linear direction orthogonal to the first direction. The four stages are responsive to input from a controller programmed with a polar coordinate pixel addressing method, for positioning a specimen mounted on the mechanical stage to allow an applied static focus beam to irradiate selected areas of interest, thereby imaged by collecting signals from the specimen using a polar coordinate pixel addressing method.
