  • Patent number: 7065016
Abstract: A method for real time recording and playback of data to and from an optical recording medium, and a method for managing a file thereof is disclosed. In the present invention, the host controls real time data writing by providing a signal requesting for information on a defective area to the device for recording/playback of data to/from an optical disk before providing a write command. Accordingly, the write command is generated such that data is not written on the defective areas, based upon the returned information on the defective area. Alternatively, the host may first provide a write command to the device for recording/playback of data to/from an optical disk, upon which information on defective areas is returned. Thus, the host generates and provides a new write command such that data is not written on a defective area based upon the returned information on the defective area.

  • Patent number: 7065019
Abstract: A method for recording data on an optical recording medium includes the step of receiving data to be written and control data. The control data includes status information to indicate whether or not an other sector within a block in which a sector is included is valid. The data is written in an other sector within the block. The method further includes determining whether to perform an error certification process based on the control data, and writing the data based on the result of determining step.

  • Publication number: 20060104509
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus for compensating for a gray component of an input image signal. The apparatus detects a pattern of the input image signal and compensates for the gray component by substituting each channel value of the input image signal by a median value if it is determined that the input image signal is gray pattern. Accordingly, a problem of displaying a color component due to distortion of a gray component of an input image signal can be resolved by resolving a color recognition problem of a gray signal generated by channel differences of the input image signal due to noise induced by a display system, which receives an output of an ADC, or external influences.

  • Publication number: 20060034411
Abstract: An apparatus of recording data on a recording medium includes an optical recording device and a microcomputer. The recording medium has a lead-in area, a lead-out area, and a data zone, where the data zone has a user data area and a spare area. When the microcomputer receives a command for physically overwriting first data in a first area within the user data area and determines that the first area is included in a pre-recorded area, it controls the recording device to record the first data in a first replacement area instead and to record a first entry in a TDMA, where the first entry specifies the locations of the first area and the first replacement area.

  • Publication number: 20050078126
Abstract: In an up-scaler and method for up-scaling an input image frame in vertical and horizontal directions and generating an up-scaled output image frame, the up-scaler includes a timing generator that generates an output clock signal and a sampling frequency converter that outputs a plurality of duplicated pixel data in response to the output clock signal. The timing generator generates the output clock signal such that a duration corresponding to a vertical active period of the up-scaled output image frame and a duration corresponding to a vertical active period of the input image frame are equal. The sampling frequency converter receives pixel data that forms the input image frame in response to an input clock signal, duplicates the pixel data in the vertical and horizontal directions as many times as a vertical scaling factor and a horizontal scaling factor, respectively, and outputs the duplicated pixel data in response to the output clock signal.
