  • Publication number: 20010052914
Abstract: A service station device for an ink-jet printer is disclosed. This service station device cleans a nozzle of a head with a wiper on a housing, and seals with a cap on the housing, while the head is moved to the printer's service zone from a printing zone by a carriage. The service station device includes a cleaner having the movable wiper; a capping assembly operating to move the cleaner, and moving simultaneously with the cap's movement, thereby sealing the head's nozzle; and a locking member limiting the movement of the carriage making the capping assembly move, and controlling a release of the capping assembly's capping force.

  • Patent number: 6109726
Abstract: A service station device for an ink-jet printer wherein a case is disposed at a service area of the ink jet printer, and a capping member is moved along first guide slots formed at the case by a carriage moved to the service area. A wiping member is moved along second guide slots and along a slope guiding surface of a pair of guide plates of the case by the capping member, and the wiping member has a wiper for cleaning a surface of the nozzle while the nozzle is moved toward a printing area and the cap is returned to an initial position thereof. The wiping member is held in a position for cleaning the nozzle by a locking member moved together with the wiping member. The locking member is locked into a locker provided in the case, and returned to an initial position thereof by an elastic member of which one end is secured to the case when the carriage is moved to the printing area.

  • Patent number: 5966146
Abstract: A printer head capping unit for improving the accuracy of capping with an ink cartridge having a guide groove and with a sled having a boss formed in an opposed shape. The head capping unit for an ink-jet printer having a wiper for wiping a surface having a nozzle hole of the printer head formed at the ink cartridge's lower part, a cap for sealing, a cap holder fixing the cap, a sled fixing the wiper and cap holder, and a main frame having the sled performing a sliding movement when a carriage having an ink cartridge reached a home position, comprises at the ink cartridge's lower part a guide groove being formed, and at the sled a boss being formed in a shape opposed to that of the guide groove so as to be closely inserted when the carriage reached the home position, thereby accurately sealing the nozzle surface of the printer head.

  • Patent number: 5847728
Abstract: A service station device in an inkjet printer head includes a cap portion which moves together with a case under guide of the case by a pressure force of a carriage moving to a service area for performing next printing and is then ascended to tightly close a nozzle of a head; a wiper portion which moves and is ascended along with the case under the guide of the case, upon movement of the cap portion, to stand by a cleaning state, and upon printing operation, which moves and descends only the cap portion to a printing area and at the same time cleans a surface of the nozzle; a locking portion integrated with the wiper portion as one unit, which moves together with the wiper portion, to thereby be locked to the case during a standby state, and upon the printing operation, returns to an original state with the wiper portion by releasing the standby state by means of the carriage being continuously moved; and an elastic portion coupled to the case and to the locking portion, which is elastically extended to lock
