  • Patent number: 7499050
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product pertained to engineering analysis of a general three-dimensional (3-D) shell structure using the mesh-free technique is disclosed. The structural responses are solved with mesh-free technique after the 3-D shell structure is mapped to a two-dimensional plane. According to one aspect, the present invention is a method for mesh-free analysis of a general three-dimensional shell structure, the method comprises: defining the general shell structure as a physical domain represented by a plurality of nodes in a three-dimensional space, creating a plurality of projected nodes by mapping the plurality of nodes in the three-dimensional space onto a two-dimensional plane, assigning a plurality of domain of influences, one for each of the plurality of projected nodes, and calculating a solution of the physical domain using a set of mathematical approximations pertaining to each of the plurality of projected nodes.

  • Patent number: 7389474
Abstract: A system and method that simulate a system locale for non-Unicode application programs having languages that do not correspond to the system locale, to appropriately convert text data via a character set according to the application's native language. A shim mechanism converts the data in a program's relevant function calls based on a character set codepage for the program that corresponds to the program's language. The conversion is performed on a program-by-program basis, whereby multiple programs can properly execute simultaneously, even when programs have different languages and thus different character set codepages. Automatic language detection is provided, when possible, to determine the appropriate system locale to simulate via a corresponding codepage table. A user interface in the form of a wizard is provided to associate selected script-dependent applications with the needed conversion information, and/or to manually receive a language when automatic detection is unsuccessful.

  • Publication number: 20070292135
Abstract: A serial transmission protocol and architecture are provided that can be used to forward remote control data between sink (e.g., DTV) and source (e.g., DVD player) devices, in addition to other data such as video and/or audio or other payload. The target device need not be in the line of sight of the remote control beam. Daisy-chained devices will pass the remote control signal to the appropriate target device, so that the user can point any remote control at the DTV or other conveniently located device in the system, and still control the actual target device. The communication channel that carries payload, processing control, and remote control data can be implemented with wired or wireless of technology (or a combination thereof). In one particular embodiment, the communication channel is implemented with a single fiber. A number of presentation and entertainment system applications that employ remote control technology (e.g.

  • Publication number: 20070286600
Abstract: Infrared control signals are repeated and communicated in a system including a source device and a sink device that are communicatively coupled by a serial communication link that includes a forward channel and a backward channel. Modulated infrared remote control data is detected by an infrared detector without de-modulation, and sampled in modulated form. Sampled data corresponding to the modulated remote control signal is transmitted from the sink device to the source device over the serial communication link, which in one example is a single optical fiber. The source device receives the sampled data and regenerates the infrared control data, which is then used to control the operation of the source device.

  • Publication number: 20070242062
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for passing Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) or Enhanced-EDID (E-EDID) in an uncompressed multimedia communication system including a video sink side communicatively coupled to a video source side. An EDID AVAILABLE packet is communicated via a serial backward channel from the video sink side. A REQUEST is communicated to the video sink side via a serial forward channel to indicate the video sink side can send the EDID data. The EDID data is then communicated to the video sink side via the serial backward channel.

  • Publication number: 20070212071
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system and method for allocating bandwidth in remote equipment on a passive optical network (PON), wherein the system includes an optical line terminal (OLT), which monitors the acceptance of traffic requesting the PON remote equipment for service and configures through signaling control the parameters for the operation of classifying, shaping, and scheduling the traffic in the remote equipment, and a remote equipment which classifies, shapes, and schedules the accepted traffic based on the parameters configured by the OLT and allocates a proper bandwidth to the accepted traffic, and outputs the traffic in the scheduled order. The present disclosure helps ensure the bandwidth and delay requirements of individual traffic flows in the PON remote equipment are met and interaction between traffic of the same or different service class groups is eliminated.

  • Publication number: 20060207752
Abstract: A micro liquid cooling device including a radiator, a thermal conductor, an actuator, and a circular path is proposed. The actuator includes a cavity sealed with a thin film, an inlet diffusion port connected to the cavity, an outlet diffusion port connected to the cavity, a magnetic body connected to the thin film, and a pole acting on the magnetic body, such that circulation of a liquid coolant in the circular path can be effected. By such design of the actuator, vibration and noise can be reduced and reliability can be improved, and thus problems caused by the use of a prior-art technique which employs a piezoelectric pump as an actuation source for the liquid coolant can be solved.

  • Patent number: 6239761
Abstract: A tapered slot antenna (20) includes a dielectric (22) with a metallization layer (24) deposited on one side. The metallization layer (24) is etched to the dielectric substrate (22) to form a tapered slot (26, 28, 30, 32). In order to tune the antenna 20), for example, such that the E and H field beam width are symmetrical, the (22) extends beyond the wide portion of the slot as a dielectric loading (26, 28, 30, 32). A microstrip feed line (40, 42, 44, 46) is formed by a metallization deposit on an opposing side of the substrate (22). The microstrip feed line (40, 42, 44, 46) extends across a narrow portion of the tapered slot (26, 28, 30, 32) and is configured to optimize the coupling between the microstrip feed line (40, 42, 44, 46) and the tapered slot antenna (20).
