Abstract: A printer includes a data receiving unit, a print mechanism, a print controlling module and a power management module. The data receiving unit is capable of receiving a file from a client. The print mechanism is used for printing out the file into hard copy. The print controlling module is connected to the print mechanism for processing the file. The power management module is capable of detecting activity of the data receiving unit and supplying power to the printing controlling module and the print mechanism. When no file is received by the data receiving unit for a predetermined time, the power management module is capable of cutting off the power to print management module and the print mechanism.

Abstract: A printing system includes a computer with an operating system, and a PCI device communicating with the computer. The PCI device includes a receiving module, a detection module, an installing module and a program module. The program module stores a printer driver program compatible with the computer operating system. The receiving module is capable of receiving instructions sent to the PCI device from the computer operating system. The detection module is capable of detecting whether there is a printer driver program for an attached printer stored in the computer after the receiving module receives the instructions. The installing module is capable of installing the printer driver program stored by the program module onto the computer if the proper printer driver program is not detected in the computer by the detection module.

Abstract: A method for automatically opening a file associated with a predetermined condition is provided. The file is matched with the predetermined condition. Information related to the predetermined condition, such as temperature, light intensity, and sound intensity is detected. The detected information is sent to a processing module. The processing module monitors the detected information to determine whether the predetermined condition is satisfied and sends an instruction to an executing module to open the file when the predetermined condition is satisfied. A system for automatically opening the file associated with the predetermined condition is also disclosed.

Abstract: A computer system includes a hard disk drive with an operating system installed therein, and a PCI card communicating with the hard disk drive. The PCI card includes a storage unit, which includes a receiving module, a detection module, an installing module, and a program module storing a driver program of the PCI card being compatible with the operating system. The receiving module is capable of receiving an executing instruction sent by the operating system to the storage unit. The detection module is capable of detecting whether there is a driver program installed in the hard disk drive after the receiving module receiving the executing instruction. The installing module is capable of installing the driver program in the hard disk drive when there is no compatible driver program installed in the hard disk drive. The method for installing the driver program in the computer system is further provided.

Abstract: A system and method are used for sending and receiving email. The system includes a gateway. The gateway communicates with the mobile phone via a wireless network capable of receiving a short message sent from a mobile phone. The gateway is connected to a mail server which has a plurality of mailboxes via a network. The gateway is capable of communicating between the mobile phone and the mail server in such a manner that the gateway converts the short message to an email, and sends the email to a receiver's mailbox in the mail server whose address is included in the short message, and the gateway converts the emails of the mailboxes of the mail server to short messages, and sends the short messages to the corresponding mobile phones.

Abstract: A system for information acquisition includes a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver for determining a current location, a search module connected to the GPS receiver, and a configuration module connected to the search module. At least one request item is stored in the configuration module. The search module is configured for requesting and acquiring associated information with the current location according to the request item to and from an information center through the Internet.

Abstract: A computer system includes hard disc, and a control circuit electrically connected to the hard disc. The control circuit includes a connecting port electrically connected to an external connecting port for transmitting data signals with another computer, a switch, a voltage converter, and a signal transforming controller. The switch includes a first terminal electrically connected to the connecting port, and a second terminal. The voltage converter includes an input terminal electrically connected to the connecting port for receiving an external voltage, and an output terminal for outputting a converted voltage. The signal transforming controller includes a first signal terminal electrically connected to the second terminal of the switch, a voltage input terminal electrically connected to the output terminal of the voltage converter, and a second signal terminal electrically connected to the hard disc.

Abstract: A method for executing a task schedule on a DPF is disclosed. The method includes loading a task configuration file comprising at least one task capable of being executed at any given time, reading a current time from a clock within the DPF, checking if there is the task waiting to be executed, executing the task if there exists the task waiting to be run, and repeating the reading a current time step, after a wait time, if no tasks have been scheduled for current execution.

Abstract: A digital photo frame includes a display and a button. The display has a primary display area and a secondary display area. A digital photo can be displayed in the secondary display area. The primary display area can also display a first resized digital photo associated with the digital photo displayed on the secondary display area. The controls are capable of causing the digital photo on the secondary display area to display on the primary display area.

Abstract: A voice control system includes an acoustic sensor, and a digital photo frame. The acoustic sensor is configured to receive a voice signal, and transform the voice signal to an electronic signal. The digital photo frame includes a transforming module, an instruction module, and a comparing module. The transforming module receives the electronic signal sent from the acoustic sensor and transforms the electronic signal to a transformed electronic code. The instruction module defines a plurality of predetermined electronic codes for performing predetermined functions of the digital photo frame. The comparing module compares the transformed electronic code with the predetermined electronic codes. If the transformed electronic code matches one of the predetermined electronic codes, the digital photo frame performs a function of the predetermined functions associated with the matched predetermined electronic code. A method for operating the digital photo frame is also provided.

Abstract: A method for determining the positions of contacts through a global positioning system (GPS) is disclosed. The method includes sending position requests to the contacts, feeding back the current position information of the contacts to a GPS receiver of a user after receiving position requests, searching the contacts located within a same geographical region as the user according to the feedback information and displaying a list of the contacts to the user in the same geographical region.

Abstract: A testing system includes a computer (10), a motherboard (31) of a mobile phone, a photosensitive component (33) and a measuring device. The motherboard of the mobile phone is connected to the computer. The motherboard of the mobile phone includes a keyboard light (313) disposed thereon. The photosensitive component is capable of sensing the brightness of the keyboard light. The measuring device is connected to the photosensitive component. The measuring device is capable of measuring the resistance of the photosensitive component and transmitting the resistance to the computer. The computer is capable of comparing the resistance with a pre-determined range of values to determine whether the keyboard light of the motherboard meets a standard.
