    Abstract: The present application relates to apparatus for generating steam. It comprises a water inlet, a evaporation surface, and a heater disposed adjacent to the evaporation surface to heat the evaporation surface to a predetermined temperature such that water fed onto the evaporation surface via the water inlet forms a film on the evaporation surface and is evaporated. The apparatus is configured so that water is fed to one or more regions of the evaporation surface, and the temperature of the water fed onto the evaporation surface is lower than the predetermined temperature, so that scale on the or each region of the evaporation surface to which water is fed cools at a different rate at which water on a remainder of the evaporation surface cools. This causes scale on the evaporation surface to break apart and be dislodged from the evaporation surface.

An example method may include calculating initial spatial disparity costs between a pixel of a first image frame from a reference camera and pixels from an image frame from a secondary camera. The method may also include estimating a motion vector for the pixel of the first reference camera image frame to a corresponding pixel from a second reference camera image frame. The method may further include calculating a confidence value for the estimated motion vector based on a measure of similarity between the colors of the pixels of the first and second image frames from the reference camera. The method may further include calculating temporally coherent disparity costs based on the initial spatial disparity costs weighted by the confidence value and selecting a disparity value based on those costs.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a device for generating steam. The device comprises a water outlet arrangement having an open end to spray water onto a water receiving arrangement. The water receiving arrangement comprises an interior surface defining a chamber in which the open end is arranged so that water sprayed from the open end is sprayed onto the interior surface. The device further comprises a heating element for heating the interior surface up to a temperature for generating steam from water sprayed on the interior surface. The interior surface is formed by two separate cavities, the open end comprising a spray nozzle received within each cavity so that each spray nozzle sprays water onto a region of the interior surface, each region being defined by the cavity in which a respective spray nozzle is received. This allows the water sprayed by the water outlet arrangement be more uniformly spread on the interior surface, leading to more effective heating and more steam may be generated per unit time.
