  • Publication number: 20090256865
Abstract: A method for generating data for driving a display panel is provided in which first compensation data of (N+k) bits, corresponding to grayscale data of N bits, is generated, wherein values of N and k are natural numbers. A first gamma curve is applied to the first compensation data of (N+k) bits. Second compensation data of (N+k) bits, corresponding to the grayscale data of N bits, is generated. A second gamma curve is applied to the second compensation data of (N+k) bits. The first compensation data or the second compensation data are selectively output and converted into analog data signals. The analog data signals are output to a data line. Accordingly, the first compensation data and second compensation data includes a multidomain structure which improves display quality. A data driving circuit and a display device including the data driving circuit for performing the method are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20090225105
Abstract: A display apparatus includes a display panel, a timing controller and a data driver. The display panel includes a plurality of unit pixels respectively including a first sub-pixel and a second sub-pixel. The timing controller includes a first compensation unit which receives grayscale data corresponding to the unit pixels and generates first compensation data of the grayscale data using offset values of first sample compensation data sampled from a first gamma curve. The data driver includes a second compensation unit which generates second compensation data of the grayscale data using second sample compensation data sampled from a second gamma curve and the first compensation data. Accordingly, the first and second compensation data comprise color compensation data, which improve image quality. A method for driving the display panel of the display apparatus is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20090184664
Abstract: One or more embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method for driving light sources, a device for driving light sources and a display device having the device for driving the light sources. Power information is read based on position information on the light sources to output a light source control signal transmitting the power information. The power information determines a level of power applied to each of the light sources. Externally provided input power is changed into a plurality of driving powers having a level changed based on the light source control signal. The driving powers are applied to the light sources, respectively. According to one aspect of the present disclosure, uniformity of luminance distribution of a display panel may be improved.

  • Publication number: 20090153592
Abstract: A signal processing device includes a memory in which a color correction data is stored. The memory stores a first color correction data having the same number of bits as an input image data and a second color correction data having fewer number of bits than the input image data. The number of color correction data corresponding to a low gray-scale range increases and the number of color correction data corresponding to a high gray-scale range decreases by the same amount that the number of the color correction data corresponding to the low gray-scale range increased. Thus, a color characteristic corresponding to the low gray-scale range may be improved without changing the total number of color correction data.

  • Publication number: 20090040156
Abstract: A display device and a method for driving the same, in which the display device includes a storage unit for storing a plurality of reference gradation code data corresponding to a plurality of gradations, and some of variable gradation code data corresponding to some of the gradation points of the plurality of gradations; a signal controller for converting gradations of original pixel data into gradation code signals of different levels using the plurality of reference gradation code data or both the plurality of reference gradation code data and the some variable gradation code data according to an operation mode; a data driver for converting the gradation code signal into an analog pixel data signal; and an image display unit for displaying an image according to the pixel data signal. The original pixel data are converted into gradation code signals of different levels according to an image display mode, thereby preventing luminance degradation and flicker generation due to the image display mode.

  • Patent number: 7344992
Abstract: A method for forming a via hole and a trench for a dual damascene interconnection comprises forming a via hole through an inter-metal insulating film to expose a portion of a surface of an etch stop film on a lower metal film, forming a photoresist film on an entire surface of the resultant structure and in the via hole, exposing a top surface and a side surface of the inter-metal insulating film by recessing the photoresist film using a development process for the photoresist film, forming a bottom antireflective coating film on the exposed surfaces of the inter-metal insulating film and the photoresist film, forming a mask pattern on the bottom antireflective coating film, forming a trench by an etching process using the mask pattern as an etch mask, and completely removing the photoresist film within the via hole.

  • Patent number: 7335585
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a semiconductor device which, on performing a via first Dual Damascene process, inhibits or prevents the formation of a void in a bottom anti-reflective coating filling a via hole. The method typically includes the steps of forming a bottom anti-reflective coating (BARC) in a via hole in an interlayer dielectric on a semiconductor substrate sufficiently to fill the via hole; disposing an acid diffusion material on the BARC; forming a cross-link layer between the BARC and the acid diffusion material; removing the remaining acid diffusion material; and etching the cross-link layer, the BARC and the interlayer dielectric to form a trench extending from an upper portion of the via hole.
