  • Patent number: 10159050
Abstract: Novel techniques for pooling the available transmit power of a beam across the subcarriers that are or that are scheduled to be in use (and not across all available subcarriers) are disclosed. The scheduled subcarriers may be located in the same or different carriers of a modulation transmitter modulation system, and the pooled transmit power may be allocated or distributed across the scheduled subcarriers of the beam. Modulation symbols or resource elements may be transmitted in accordance with allocated, per-subcarrier power budgets, thereby maximizing the SNIR of signals that are transmitted in the beam via the scheduled subcarriers. Additionally, the allocation of the pooled transmit power to various subcarriers may continuously and/or dynamically vary over time, e.g., based on traffic demands, interference characteristics, etc., as well as based on subsequent scheduling of subcarriers to transmit subsequent modulation symbols or resource elements.

  • Publication number: 20180359704
Abstract: An interface circuit in an electronic device (such as an access point) may provide a group wake-up packet to a group of recipient electronic devices in a set of recipient electronic devices. During operation, the interface circuit may select the group in the set of recipient electronic devices, where the group includes at least one of the recipient electronic devices. Then, the interface circuit may provide the group wake-up packet for the recipient electronic devices in the group with information that specifies that a subset of the recipient electronic devices in the group transition from a low-power mode. For example, the information may include a bitmap that specifies the subset and an identifier of the group. Note that the electronic device may dynamically define the group. Alternatively, the recipient electronic devices in the group may be static.

  • Publication number: 20180359633
Abstract: One or more wireless stations may operate to configure direct communication with neighboring mobile stations, e.g., direct communication between the wireless stations without utilizing an intermediate access point. A mechanism for wireless stations to pair with neighboring wireless stations to establish secured data connections may include establishing a peer-to-peer data communication session, obtaining device pairing information via an out-of-band (OOB) mechanism, and exchanging device pairing information via transmission management frames to authenticate the peer device. A PTK based on the device pairing information may be installed to protect data frames exchanged at a MAC layer of the wireless station and a session key may be installed to protect data frames exchanged at higher layers.

  • Patent number: 10142985
Abstract: In embodiments, a wireless device, such as a Wi-Fi device, transmits communication signals on secondary channels within an operational bandwidth of a wireless network, concurrent with a transmission from another wireless device on a primary channel. The wireless device may detect that a first frequency band within an operating bandwidth of a wireless network is occupied by a first transmission transmitted by a second wireless device, and determine that a second, different frequency band within the operating bandwidth of the wireless network is not occupied. In response, the wireless device may transmit a second transmission occupying the second frequency band concurrent with the first transmission. The wireless device may set a duration of the second transmission based at least in part on a determination of whether the second wireless device is configured to assess the state of all frequency bands within the operating bandwidth before beginning a subsequent transmission.

  • Publication number: 20180337721
Abstract: Selecting serving cells in air to ground communication systems efficiently and with maximum knowledge of forward and return link channel conditions allows maximum throughput available to a user at any point in time, particularly in the presence of high interference. Airborne based and ground based systems may collect forward and return link channel conditions and develop user capacity estimates to be used by aircraft and ground based transceivers. Such user capacity estimates may be shared among distributed air-to-ground networks to ensure the latest channel conditions are available for serving cell selection decisions.
