  • Publication number: 20060093865
Abstract: A recording medium including a perpendicular magnetic recording layer and a laminated SUL formed on a substrate is provided. The SUL includes an antiferromagnetic layer interposed between laminated structures including a magnetic layer, a non-magnetic layer and a magnetic layer. The layers may each have a thickness of 20 nm or less and the layers below the antiferromagnetic layer may be thinner than the layers on the antiferromagnetic layer. The laminated structures formed on and below the antiferromagnetic layer have unidirectional magnetic anisotropies set in the opposite radial direction to each other by an exchange bias. As a result, media magnetic domain noise can be diminished.

  • Patent number: 6947262
Abstract: A magnetic reading head is provided. The magnetic reading head reads information recorded on a recording medium having a soft underlayer and a magnetic layer stacked on the soft underlayer, and includes a magneto-resistive element and a pair of shield layers. The magneto-resistive element is positioned over the magnetic layer, keeping a predetermined distance G from the soft underlayer. The pair of shield layers are arranged parallel to the magneto-resistive element, keeping predetermined distances from both sides of the magneto-resistive element. Here, the shield layers have widths less than double of the predetermined distance G. In this structure, by properly adjusting the widths of the shield layers, magnetic fields formed by the magnetization of the recording medium under the shield layers do not affect the magnetoresistive element. As a result, sensitivity of the magnetic reading head can be improved.

    Abstract: Provided is a thermally stable perpendicular magnetic recording medium. The provided perpendicular magnetic recording medium includes a perpendicular magnetic recording layer between a lower layer and an upper layer, wherein a thickness of the perpendicular magnetic recording is determined by Equation 7, in the case of K>105 erg/cm3 and D > ( 30 ? k B ? T ? ? K ? ? ? A ) 1 / 2 , and determined by Equation 9, in the case of K>105 erg/cm3, n > 30 ? k B ? T ? ? ? ? D 2 ? A ? ? ? K , and ? ? ? D ? ( 30 ? k B ? T ? ? K ? ? ? A ) 1 / 2 . The provided perpendicular magnetic recording medium includes the perpendicular magnetic recording layer having a thermally stable thickness even when the value of K is large and an energy barrier does not follow KV. Thus, data recorded on the provided perpendicular magnetic recording medium is preserved for over 10 years.

  • Patent number: 6766130
Abstract: A liquid developer imaging system and a method using the system for developing an image, including a cartridge for containing a developing solution; a developing container for receiving the developing solution supplied from the cartridge via a predetermined supply line; a developing roller partly submerged in the developing solution contained in the developing container, installed to be rotated facing a photosensitive object; and a metering blade for scraping off the developing solution coated on the surface of the developing roller to a predetermined thickness, is provided. According to the system, a developing supply structure can be considerably simplified because a high-density developing solution is directly used in developing an image without a process of diluting the solution, and an image can be developed to have high definition because the concentration of the developing solution coated on the developing roller is regularly controlled by a metering blade.

  • Patent number: 6754465
Abstract: A liquid image forming apparatus. A developing unit of the liquid image forming apparatus includes a developing container in which a developer is received, a developing roller having a portion which is dipped in the developer of the developing container, which is installed to be opposite to a photosensitive body, a cleaning roller which cleans the developer remaining on the surface of the developing roller after an electrostatic latent image is developed, and a squeeze roller which squeezes the cleaning roller before the developing roller is cleaned, and passes the air passing through the cleaning roller to the outside. The air passing through the cleaning roller does not pass into the developer and thus bubbles are not generated in the developer, thereby solving a problem of non-uniform developer attachment.

  • Patent number: 6704531
Abstract: A developing system of a liquid electrophotographic image forming device. The developing system includes a development container in which a developer is stored, a development roller which rotates opposite to a photosensitive body, and being partially soaked in the development container, and a metering blade. The metering blade has a first face contacting the circumference of the development roller and a second face by which a predetermined angle is formed with respect to the first face, which maintains a developer layer on the circumference of the development roller at a predetermined thickness. By optimizing related parameters of the metering blade, the developer layer on the development roller can be regulated, thereby achieving good image quality.

  • Patent number: 6700739
Abstract: A magnetic head including an upper pole and a lower pole for generating a leakage magnetic flux to magnetize a recording medium to have a predetermined pattern, wherein the upper pole has a structure in which the central portion of a side opposite to the recording medium is thicker than the edges of the side. In this magnetic head, the upper pole has a shape in which its central portion protrudes higher than its edges. Thus, the shape of a magnetic field distributed can be maintained rectangular even if the width of the upper pole is reduced, which enables an increase in the track density of a recording medium.
