  • Publication number: 20210014892
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may determine a configuration for UE-to-UE sharing of a channel occupancy time (COT) and may transmit the configuration to a UE to indicate that it can share a UE-acquired COT with at least another UE. A UE may acquire a COT using a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure, and if successful, may transmit a signal indicating that the COT is being shared with at least another UE. Additionally, a UE may receive a signal from another UE indicating that it has acquired a COT in a shared spectrum and that the COT is being shared with other UEs. The UE may perform a shortened LBT procedure within the COT, and if successful, may transmit an uplink transmission in the shared spectrum.

  • Patent number: 10880844
Abstract: A periodic quiet interval is provided for base stations attempting to access a shared transmission medium in NR-U. The base station activates a quiet interval at a periodic interval and transmits on the medium based on the quiet interval. The base station may reduce a Tx power, not transmit, and/or may increase a minimum value of a contention window for BEB during the quiet interval. The base station may receive a request from a second base station to activate the quiet interval, and may determine if a Tx power of the base station is larger than the maximum Tx power of the second base station. The base station may also receive the request as relayed through a UE. The quiet interval can thus ameliorate a starvation effect of BEB in NR-U by allowing base stations with smaller Tx power greater opportunity to control the medium while maintaining BEB in NR-U.

  • Patent number: 10880883
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for providing allocations and signaling for different types of communications within a wireless communication system. An eNB and/or a UE may be configured to operate within the wireless communication system using two or more different types of communications. The different types of communications may differ, for example, based on round trip time (RTT) between transmission and acknowledgment of receipt of the transmission, a transmission time interval (TTI) for wireless transmissions, and/or duty cycle timing of wireless transmissions. Reserved resources within a system bandwidth may be identified for a first type of communications, and all or a portion of remaining resources within the system bandwidth may be allocated for other communications that may differ from the first type of communications based on, for example, RTT, TTI, and/or duty cycle timing.

  • Publication number: 20200396766
Abstract: Two-phase floating-instant coordinated multipoint (CoMP) operation is disclosed. The CoMP operation may be initiated by the network via a CoMP cluster of network nodes or by user equipments (UEs) configured for uplink CoMP transmissions. The first phase is initiated after a first node to conduct a successful full listen before talk (LBT) procedure signals the other participating nodes to perform an abbreviated LBT procedure and identifies the beginning of the second phase. After success of the full and abbreviated LBT procedures, each associated node will initiate a first transmission in the first phase. The leading node determines how many of the other nodes are available for transmission and decides, based on that amount and the rules of the network, whether to continue with the CoMP operations. If enough of the other nodes are available, the participating nodes will conduct the CoMP transmissions at the identified beginning of the second phase.

  • Patent number: 10855417
Abstract: Control information may be transmitted for different TTI lengths. Different control information for the different TTIs may be transmitted using control channel resources that are established for communication of control information, such as a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), for example. Control information for a first TTI may be located in a first set of resources, and control information for a second TTI may be located in a second set of resources. The first set of resources may be located within a first search space that may be searched by a user equipment (UE) to identify the first control information. The second set of resources may be located within a second search space that may be searched by the UE to identify the second control information.

  • Publication number: 20200374702
Abstract: Synchronous communications mode detection is disclosed for unlicensed spectrum communications. To detect synchronous mode communications, an observing node monitors on-off transitions of communication transmissions on a shared communication spectrum. The observing node detects the on-off transition spacing of the on-off transitions over a sliding window of a detection period duration. The node may determine the number of candidate synchronous on-off transition spacings of the detected on-off transition spacings that are equal to an integer multiple of a synchronization period. If the number of candidate synchronous on-off transition spacings exceeds a threshold value the observing node will declare detection of a synchronous operation mode of the shared communication spectrum.

  • Patent number: 10849125
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Wireless devices may use enhanced carrier aggregation (eCA) to increase the throughput of a communications link, and control schemes for reducing signaling overhead may be employed to support eCA operation. For instance, downlink control information (DCI) supporting resource grants on a plurality of component carriers (CC) may be provided. These joint grants of resources may be used in addition to individual resource grants. A resource allocation granularity associated with the joint grant of resources may be based on the number of CCs scheduled by a resource grant message. The resource allocation granularity may be a function of whether uplink or downlink CCs are scheduled, and it may be determined based on a location of or channel associated with the resource grant message. A receiving device may identify allocated resources based on the scheduled CCs and resource allocation granularity.

  • Patent number: 10841950
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which base stations and user equipment (UEs) may transmit using identified wireless resources in millimeter wave (mmW) radio frequency spectrum. A UE may receive an uplink grant from a base station that indicates uplink resources for transmission of uplink data from the UE to the base station in a shared mmW radio frequency spectrum band. An indication of a duration of a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure may be provided in or with the uplink grant. The UE may perform, responsive to receiving the uplink grant, the LBT procedure to determine that the shared mmW radio frequency spectrum band is available for the uplink transmission. Based on the outcome of the LBT procedure, the UE may transmit the uplink data to the base station using the uplink resources indicated in the uplink grant.

  • Patent number: 10841037
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. In one configuration, the apparatus may be a UE. The UE determines an MCS that would facilitate interference suppression of an interfering first cell transmission from a first cell when decoding a second cell transmission from a second cell at the UE. The interfering first cell transmission is a transmission unintended for the UE. The second cell transmission is a transmission intended for the UE. The UE transmits information indicating the determined MCS for the first cell. The UE receives a transmission including the second cell transmission from the second cell and the interfering first cell transmission from the first cell. The UE demodulates and/or decodes the second cell transmission from the received transmission based on the determined MCS.

  • Patent number: 10841953
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for receiver-based listen-before-talk (LBT) in systems that use shared radio frequency spectrum. A scheduling device may provide a pre-grant indication of a data transmission. The data transmission may be transmitted via a shared millimeter wave (mmW) radio frequency spectrum band, and a LBT procedure may be performed at a receiving device responsive to the pre-grant indication, to determine that the shared mmW radio frequency spectrum band is available for the data transmission. An indication may be transmitted to a transmitting device to indicate that the receiving device has successfully performed the LBT procedure, which may act as a trigger for the transmitting device to start the data transmission.
