  • Publication number: 20200107360
Abstract: Coordination of listen before talk (LBT) structure in new radio (NR) unlicensed (NR-U) multi-channel access operations is disclosed. In one aspect, when a base station determines to access shared communication spectrum, it may transmit an LBT structure signal that identifies the current LBT structure. The base station would then attempt access to the shared spectrum according to the LBT structure. In another aspect, a coordination server is used to manage access to the shared spectrum. Each node desiring access registers with the coordination server, which provides access parameters for the accessing node to use that increases the likelihood of successful access. The accessing nodes will transmit the selected access configuration used to access the shared spectrum, wherein the access configuration is selected based on the access parameters.

  • Publication number: 20200107335
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine that a serving base station of the UE has obtained access to a wireless channel of a shared radio frequency spectrum band during a transmission opportunity that is separate from a scheduled uplink transmission by the UE. The UE may perform, based at least in part on the determination, a clear channel assessment (CCA) procedure on the wireless channel during a designated quiet portion of the transmission opportunity. The UE may transmit an unsolicited CCA status report to the serving base station during the transmission opportunity based at least in part on the CCA procedure.

  • Publication number: 20200107364
Abstract: New radio (NR) unlicensed (NR-U) multi-channel access is disclosed for low-radio frequency (RF)-capable user equipment (UE). A base station may enable multi-channel access when single operator operations cannot be guaranteed within a shared communication spectrum. The primary and secondary channels are defined within the shared communication channel. The base station may then transmit a configuration message to one or more low-RF UEs that identifies the charnels and directs the UEs to monitor the primary channel for a successful listen before talk (LBT) indicator. The base station performs an LBT procedure on the primary channel and the secondary channel and signals the low-RF UEs to re-tune to the secondary channel for communication during a current transmission opportunity.

  • Patent number: 10588162
Abstract: Uplink waveforms for operating long term evolution (LTE) in an unlicensed band (i.e., long term evolution-unlicensed (LTE-U) communication) are disclosed. Carrier aggregation (CA) and standalone (SA) are disclosed. LTE on the licensed channel may provide both control and data, LTE on the unlicensed channel may provide data. Managing variable transmission time interval (TTI) continuous transmission is disclosed for transmission over multiple subframes of an unlicensed carrier in LTE-U. Listen-before-talk (LBT) requirements of unlicensed carriers provide for additional channel occupancy constraints when scheduling resources for multiple UEs for variable TTI continuous uplink transmissions over multiple subframes. A joint control channel is disclosed that provides control information for all of the potentially available subframes to be scheduled for the uplink transmissions.

  • Publication number: 20200077394
Abstract: Techniques are described for preempting resource allocations to one or more UEs in the event that delay sensitive data is received. A resource allocation of a number of symbols may be granted to a first user equipment (UE) for first associated data to be transmitted. Subsequently, data may be received for a second UE that is more delay sensitive than the first data. The resource allocation to the first UE may be preempted, and resources allocated to the second UE for the second data within a variable length transmission time interval (TTI) of the resource allocation to the first UE. UEs may monitor for preemption during transmissions to other UEs in order to receive new resource grants associated with the preempted resource grant. Whether a UE monitors transmissions for preemption may be determined based on a quality or service (QoS) of the UE.

  • Patent number: 10582502
Abstract: Techniques for wireless communications over a shared radio frequency spectrum band, may include techniques for transmitting uplink data transmissions using allocated uplink resources. Allocated uplink resources may include an uplink channel comprising a number of allocated interlaces of resource blocks (RBs) for use by a user equipment (UE). An incoming data stream may be processed and data separated into each of the allocated interlaces of RBs for the UE. Such separation may be through demultiplexing the data stream to obtain data for the allocated interlaces of RBs. The demultiplexed data may be mapped onto associated resource elements associated with the allocated interlaces of RBs, and transmitted. Different types of uplink channels, such as a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) and/or a physical random access channel (PRACH) may be allocated to interlaces of RBs in one or more subframes of a transmitted radio frame.
