  • Publication number: 20180249505
Abstract: The disclosure provides for control plane measurements in a wireless device. The wireless device may measure, across multiple sub-frames received over an unlicensed spectrum, received cell-specific reference signals (CRS) from a cell to obtain CRS measurements. The wireless device may identify one or both of a first subset of the CRS measurements associated with a first subset of the sub-frames including opportunistic transmissions and a second subset of the CRS measurements associated with a second subset of the sub-frames including guaranteed transmissions. The wireless device may compute one or both of a first signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) value for the first subset of the CRS measurements and a second SINR value for the second subset of the CRS measurements. The wireless device may monitor a radio link condition of the wireless device based at least in part on the first SINR value or the second SINR value.

  • Patent number: 10063324
Abstract: Suppression of serving cell transmissions directed to second-served UEs may improve channel estimation of a serving cell or a neighbor cell. This may include using scheduling information for second-served UEs to suppress serving cell signals intended for second-served UEs having overlapping MIMO transmissions. • Publication number: 20180233055
Abstract: The disclosure relates to drone user equipment (UE) indications that may be conveyed to a wireless network. In particular, a UE that has flight capabilities (i.e., capabilities to operate as an unmanned aircraft system) and optional further capabilities to report a current height level may indicate such capabilities to the wireless network. As such, the wireless network may differentiate the drone UE from other UEs that only operate on the ground. Furthermore, the optional current height level may enable the wireless network to differentiate among drone UEs operating at different heights and/or from other UEs that are operating on the ground. The wireless network may further use the information indicating the flight capabilities either alone or in combination with the optional height information to configure power control parameters, manage interference, provide mobility management functions, generate neighbor lists, control beamforming, or implement a radio resource configuration or management procedure.

  • Patent number: 10009926
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to techniques for connectionless access by a wireless device. Such connectionless access may allow for the transmission of data without the overhead associated with establishing conventional connected access (e.g., radio resource control (RRC) connection) to a network. As a result, a device with relatively little data to transmit, such as a machine type communications (MTC) device, may be able to efficiently exit an idle mode, transmit the data during a connectionless access, and subsequently return to idle mode in a shorter period of time than conventional methods.
