  • Publication number: 20150280847
Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method may include transmitting a reference signal from an access point over a shared spectrum to a user equipment (UE), and receiving a measurement of the reference signal from the UE. A second method may include receiving at a UE over a shared spectrum a reference signal from an access point, and transmitting a measurement of the reference signal to the access point. In each of the first and second methods, the measurement may indicate interference with the shared spectrum from outside of a clear channel assessment (CCA) range of the access point.

  • Publication number: 20150270925
Abstract: A modulation and coding scheme (MCS) is selected for one or more transmissions from a first wireless device to a second wireless device, based at least in part on interference at the second wireless device during a time period. The interference excludes wireless signals present at the second wireless device at first times during the time period when the first wireless device is transmitting and at second times during the time period when the first wireless device detects transmissions.

  • Patent number: 9136953
Abstract: Interference on pilot signals and on data tones can be mismatched. Different types of interference estimates perform differently based on how the mismatch occurs. The resulting interference estimate may thus be inaccurate. Interference estimates based on pilot signals and also on data tones can both be evaluated for reliability. The more reliable of the two can then be selected. If the data tones estimate is selected, the estimate can be calculated from covariance matrices or from traffic-to-pilot ratios.

  • Patent number: 9124409
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate determining control region parameters related to a plurality of carriers and/or coordinated multiple point (CoMP) access points. • Publication number: 20150237548
Abstract: Antenna selection and reassignment in multiple radio access technology (RAT) communication systems with unlicensed spectrum is disclosed. Aspects include a user equipment (UE) monitoring for a channel reserving signal in each frame from multiple transmission sources. If no channel reserving signal is detected, then the UE reassigns one or more of the antennas previously assigned to the transmission sources with no activity detected. Additional aspects include base stations that determine a clear channel assessment (CCA) status for each of unlicensed carrier designated for transmission to a UE. The base station will transmit a receive antenna usage adjustment signal to the UE based on the determined CCA status.

  • Patent number: 9107109
Abstract: In a wireless communication system a method for combination transmission of packet data and low delay data. In one embodiment a parallel signaling channel provides a message to receivers indicating a target recipient of packet data. The message also identifies the transmission channels used for packet data transmissions. Each receiver may then selectively decode only packets where the message identifies the receiver as a target recipient. The data packets stored in a buffer are ignored if the target recipient is another mobile unit. In one embodiment, the message is sent concurrently with the data packet on a parallel channel. In one embodiment, the message is punctured into the high rate packet data transmission.
