  • Publication number: 20160095134
Abstract: Systems and methods for uplink transmission scheduling are disclosed. A wireless device may monitor at least two downlink sub-frames for scheduling grants. The wireless device may receive a first uplink scheduling grant in one of the at least two downlink sub-frames for at least a first uplink sub-frame and receive a second uplink scheduling grant in another of the at least two downlink sub-frames for at least the first uplink sub-frame. The wireless device may perform an uplink transmission in the first uplink sub-frame based on one or both of the first uplink scheduling grant and the second uplink scheduling grant. For the uplink transmission, the wireless device may select a most recent uplink scheduling grant or select an uplink scheduling grant received in a downlink sub-frame at least a minimum number of sub-frames before the first uplink sub-frame.

  • Publication number: 20160095120
Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method includes winning a contention for access to an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, and transmitting at least a portion of a channel usage beacon signal (CUBS) over the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. The at least portion of the CUBS is transmitted in a number of frequency interlaces of the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. A second method includes winning a contention for access to an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band; determining whether the contention is won within a threshold time before a next symbol period boundary; and transmitting at least a portion of a CUBS over the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. The at least portion of the CUBS is transmitted during a preamble including a fractional period of a first symbol period. The at least portion of the CUBS may be based at least in part on the determining.

  • Publication number: 20160088646
Abstract: Dual-thread feedback for non-orthogonal channels used in wireless communications systems is described. A first feedback thread may employ transmission strategy (TS) independent feedback and a second feedback thread may employ TS dependent feedback. The first feedback thread may include channel feedback from channel measurements (e.g., channel gain, noise covariance, etc.) and may be fed back periodically. A TS space may be determined that includes combinable TSs for UEs that may be grouped for non-orthogonal techniques, and one or more TS sets may be sent to the UEs. UEs may determine channel quality and/or other channel state information (CSI) for the TSs and report CSI for one or more TSs of the TS sets in a second feedback thread. Scheduling may be performed for transmissions to the UEs based on the feedback in the first and/or second feedback threads.

  • Patent number: 9295048
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus, e.g., base station, determines a plurality of component carriers configured for a user equipment (UE) served by the apparatus. The plurality of component carriers includes a primary component carrier and a secondary component carrier. The primary component carrier may be a time division duplex (TDD) carrier having a same uplink:downlink configuration as a first cell at a neighboring base station, and the secondary component carrier may be a TDD carrier having a different uplink:downlink configuration as a second cell at the neighboring base station. The apparatus exchanges data with the UE according to an effective uplink-downlink subframe partition of the configured component carriers. The effective uplink-downlink subframe partition may be time varying and the apparatus may operate to limit interference due to the different TDD configurations at the serving and neighbor cells.

  • Publication number: 20160073303
Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be a second base station. The second base station receives a measurement report and a cell identifier, associated with a first base station, from a UE. The second base station determines, based on the cell identifier, that the first base station is in a dormant state. The second base station sends an activation request to the first base station, based on the measurement report, to prompt the first base station to transition from the dormant state to an active state. The second base station further includes handing off the UE to the first base station.

  • Publication number: 20160066316
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for providing allocations and signaling for different types of communications within a wireless communication system. An eNB and/or a UE may be configured to operate within the wireless communication system using two or more different types of communications. The different types of communications may differ, for example, based on round trip time (RTT) between transmission and acknowledgment of receipt of the transmission, a transmission time interval (TTI) for wireless transmissions, and/or duty cycle timing of wireless transmissions. Reserved resources within a system bandwidth may be identified for a first type of communications, and all or a portion of remaining resources within the system bandwidth may be allocated for other communications that may differ from the first type of communications based on, for example, RTT, TTI, and/or duty cycle timing.

  • Publication number: 20160065341
Abstract: Techniques are provided for combining different types of reference signals. A wireless communications network may be configured to allow a user equipment (UE) to combine multiple demodulation reference signals (DM-RSs) to support demodulation of a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), and/or other downlink transmissions, transmitted from a base station to the UE. The base station may provide explicit signaling that reference signals transmitted in two or more transmission time intervals may be combined, or a determination that reference signals transmitted in two or more transmission time intervals may be combined may be made implicitly based on system configuration and previous transmissions. Based on the explicit signaling and/or implicit determination, a UE may combine reference signals included in each of two or more reference signals for use in demodulation of downlink transmissions.

  • Patent number: 9264208
Abstract: In a wireless communications system wherein control-less subframes share a common carrier with subframes that include control signaling, a method performed by a base station may include receiving a first indication from a network entity to maintain a designated set of subframes on a common carrier devoid of designated downlink control signals. The method may further include providing a second indication in a wireless transmission to a mobile entity, the second indication enabling identification of subframes in the designated set (i.e., the control-less subframes) by the mobile entity. In turn, identification of control-less subframes by the mobile entity prior to decoding the subframes may enable a more efficient control of blind decoding operations at the mobile entity and reduce blind decoding operations required for the mobile entity to decode downlink control information.
