  • Publication number: 20150247007
Abstract: Presently described are block copolymers suitable for use as a low adhesion backsize (“LAB”) coating. The block copolymers comprise at least one polyorganosiloxane block and at least one polyolefin block. The polyolefin block is semi-crystalline having a melt point of at least 110° C. The block copolymer typically has the structure: A[-L-B]n wherein A is a polyorganosiloxane block and B is a polyolefin block. L is a covalent bond or a divalent linking group. In some embodiments, L is the reaction product of an amine or hydroxyl and an anhydride.

  • Publication number: 20140335360
Abstract: An anti-fog coating composition is described comprising an aqueous polymeric dispersion; a crosslinker, and a surfactant. The dried and cured coating composition does not exhibit fogging within 8 seconds after being soaked in 25° C. water for 1 hour. In favored embodiments, the dried and cured coating composition does not exhibit fogging within 60 seconds after being soaked in 50° C. water for 24 hours. Also described are articles comprising the dried and cured coating composition disposed on a substrate as well as a method a providing an anti-fog coating on a substrate.

  • Publication number: 20140170917
Abstract: A polyurethane polymer, a synthetic leather including such polymer, and a method of making such polymer, wherein the polyurethane polymer includes the reaction product of components including: a fluorinated mono-functional alcohol comprising a perfluorinated (C4-C6)alkyl group, a perfluorinated (C4-C6)alkylene group, or both; a fluorinated aliphatic diol comprising a perfluorinated (C4-C6)alkyl group, a perfluorinated (C4-C6)alkylene group, or both; a hydrocarbon diol; and a diisocyanate; wherein at least one of the following conditions is met: the total of the fluorinated aliphatic diol and the mono-functional alcohol is less than 2 wt-% of the components forming the polyurethane polymer; or the total fluorine content is less than 1 wt-% of the polyurethane polymer.

  • Publication number: 20120270992
Abstract: The invention provides core-shell hybrid latexes wherein the core comprises poly(acrylate)polymers and the shell comprises vegetable oil-based waterborne polyurethanes, and the latexes lack surfactants. Surfactant-free core-shell hybrid latexes with waterborne vegetable oil-based polyurethanes as the shell and poly(acrylate) as the core have been successfully prepared by seeded emulsion polymerization. The crosslink densities of the polymers obtained can be controlled by using modified vegetable oil polyols with various hydroxyl numbers or by adding a multifunctional vinyl crosslinker to the poly(acrylate) core.
