    Abstract: Provided are a computer-implemented method, a computing system and a non-transitory storage medium. In the method, available Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) accessible on a User Equipment (UE) are determined. The available WLANs on the UE are prioritized based on degree of wireless connectivity. The UE is connected to a first WLAN with the highest degree of wireless connectivity. A registration request is sent, over the first WLAN, to an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) for the UE. A status of the IMS registration for the UE is received from the IMS, where the status includes a successful registration status or an unsuccessful registration status. Upon receiving the successful registration status of the IMS registration, data packets are transmitted to the IMS.

    Abstract: A user equipment (UE), a method and a communication apparatus are provided. The UE includes a first communication circuit that receives a notification, a processor, and a memory unit that is operatively connected to the processor and includes instructions. The instructions, when being executed, cause the processor to execute a method. In the method, it is determined that the notification indicates that an incoming call was directed to the UE during a preset time period. It is identified that the UE did not receive the incoming call during the preset time period based on: an identification that the incoming call was not forwarded to another device; and an identification that, during the preset time period, the UE was not in a call handling mode in which the UE does not receive incoming call. A recovery option is performed based on identification that the UE did not receive the incoming call.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for improving the overall experience for users conducting voice calls over 5G. For example, failing to establish a Transport Control Protocol (TCP) connection to a Proxy-Call Session Control Function (P-CSCF) server leads to user equipment (UE) not registering to an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), and impacts the 5G voice call. A voice call flow handling function on the UE performs several handling procedures to dynamically adjust the flow to address failed connections to the P-CSCF server. After initiating a 5G voice call, the UE can detect a failed connection to the P-CSCF server. In response, a secondary P-CSCF server from a plurality of available P-CSCF servers is selected. A connection to the selected secondary P-CSCF server is attempted. A successful connection to the selected secondary P-CSCF server supports the UE registering to the IMS to conduct the voice call over 5G New Radio (NR).

Upon a determination that the UE is performing a VoIP call setup, transmission of measurement report information to a network in which the UE Is operating is selectively enabled or disabled until the VoIP call setup procedure is complete. Selective enablement of the transmission of the measurement report information depends upon a further determination that a serving cell currently serving the UE fails to meet a stability threshold. Selective disablement of the transmission of the measurement report information occurs when redirection or handover of the UE pursuant to the transmission of the measurement report information is a possibility.

    Abstract: During the transition period from 4G and long-term evolution (LTE) to 5G technology, for 5G capable user equipment (UE), it is preferred to utilize non-standalone (NSA) cells that support 5G technology rather than LTE only cells. To enable such preference, a fingerprint database recording known neighboring NSA cells to LTE only cells and a flag for identifying NSA cells in the acquisition database of the UE can be used to prioritize searching for NSA cells on startup and to expedite reselection to an NSA cell when camping on LTE only cells. To avoid excess battery drain when camping on LTE only cells since searching for cells consumes significant power of the UE, a series of timers and a counter can be used to disable the NSA preferred feature if an NSA cell is not found after a reasonable search while camping on the LTE only cell.
