  • Publication number: 20150365856
Abstract: The present disclosure presents a method and an apparatus for managing radio resource control (RRC) state transitions at a user equipment (UE). For example, the method may include transmitting a reconfiguration complete message to a network entity, starting a reselection delay timer simultaneously with the transmitting of the reconfiguration complete message, identifying initiation of a cell reselection procedure at the UE, delaying the cell reselection procedure at the UE until the UE receives a layer 2 acknowledgement (L2 ACK) message from the network entity, stopping the reselection delay timer in response to receiving the L2 ACK message, and transitioning the UE to a cell_paging channel (cell_PCH) state from a cell_forward access channel (cell_FACH) state after the stopping of the reselection delay timer. As such, managing RRC state transitions at a UE may be achieved.

  • Patent number: 9185610
Abstract: A method and apparatus for wireless communications are provided. A first cell on which a user equipment (UE) is camped may be identified as a visited Public Land Mobile Network (VPLMN) of the UE. Information of a second cell among neighboring cells of the first cell may be received via a broadcast message from the first cell. The second cell may be part of a home PLMN (HPLMN) and the HPLMN may not be an equivalent PLMN (EPLMN) to the VPLMN associated with the first cell. Alternatively, the second cell may belong to an Equivalent HPLMN (EPLMN). When the second cell is determined to be a best cell according to absolute priority reselection rules or a highest ranked cell among the neighboring cells of the first cell, the second cell may not be barred for a period of time from being considered or identified as a candidate for reselection.

  • Publication number: 20150271083
Abstract: Techniques for configuring a window size are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a first window size for communications between the UE and a source network and determine that the first window size is invalid for a target configuration of communications between the UE and a target network. When the first window size is invalid for the target configuration, the UE may calculate a second window size for the target configuration of communications between the UE and the target network based on one or more parameters of the target configuration. The calculation of the second window size may be based on one or more parameters of the target configuration. Moreover, the one or more parameters may at least include a stored window size from a previous configuration of the communications between the UE and the source network.

  • Publication number: 20150223148
Abstract: Described herein are various aspects related to determining whether to read system information of a network entity. A user equipment (UE) can receive system information transmitted by a network entity. The UE can analyze one or more parameters of the system information to determine whether system information for the network entity has changed when a value tag broadcasted in the system information is equivalent to a stored value tag for the network entity; thus the UE can utilize more than just the value tag, such as system information size, system information scheduling, a value tag in master information, and/or the like, at least in instance where the value tag may be the same in different transmissions of the system information. The UE can process the system information for the network entity based at least in part on determining that the system information for the network entity has changed.

  • Patent number: 9088939
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate mapping multiple evolved packet system (EPS) bearers to a single relay eNB radio bearer. In particular, an upstream eNB can select a radio bearer of a downstream eNB for association to an EPS bearer; the selection can be based on a best effort match or substantially any logic. The upstream eNB can store an association between the radio bearer and EPS bearer for subsequent downstream packet routing. The upstream eNB can also provide an indication of the selected radio bearer to the downstream relay eNB to facilitate upstream packet routing therefrom. The upstream eNB can alternatively select the radio bearer of the downstream eNB for association to the EPS bearer based on a quality of service (QoS) class identifier (QCI) of the EPS bearer.
