  • Patent number: 8407729
Abstract: The present invention avoids a case in which a pickup lens and a lens protector come into contact with a structure of a disk cartridge and are damaged. When an operation distance is short and there is a disk cartridge 203 and the disk cartridge 203 is not an exclusive cartridge, a moving range of the pickup 107 is restricted or an actuating operation thereafter is stopped depending upon whether the optical disk medium 101 loaded into the optical disk apparatus is an optical disk medium having a short operation distance, whether there is a disk cartridge 203, and whether a structure of the disk cartridge 203 is prevented from coming into contact with a pickup lens or the lens protector which is exclusive for the optical disk medium having the short operation distance.

  • Patent number: 7808870
Abstract: An optical disk recording/reproduction device and a disk determination method for an optical disk recording/reproduction device. The disk determination method compares with a threshold value a drive value when the arrival of a focus point at a recording surface is detected during a focus search relative to an optical disk (301) or a drive value during an on-focus state. By this, two or more kinds of optical disks having different substrate thicknesses are determined. The threshold value is determined based on a drive value during an on-focus state when one or more kinds of disks out of the two or more kinds of optical disks become reproducible.

  • Publication number: 20090028012
Abstract: Immediately after firmware is installed in a flash ROM (R2), a CPU (C2) erases adjustment value information required for recording in the flash ROM (R2) in response to a command (3), for example, so that in an optical disk device serving as a removable medium recording/reproducing device, the CPU (C2) cannot receive a command relating to recording, thereby inhibiting the recording function.

  • Publication number: 20070230923
Abstract: An optical disc recording/reproducing device includes visible information recording control means (109D) for successively moving (S203) an optical pickup (102) from the recording start position at the inner circumference side by a traverse drive circuit (105) and a DC motor (118), and controlling laser light power to start write (S205) of visible information. A tracking drive circuit (104) and a tracking drive system (116) are operated and when the sift amount reaches a predetermined level or above, an optical pickup (101) is moved (S207) by a certain distance in the outer circumference direction by the traverse drive circuit (105) and DC motor (118). The tracking drive circuit (104) and tracking drive system (116) move (S209) the laser spot in the direction of the optical disc inner circumference. A shift amount of the tracking actuator is held when a boundary between the recorded area and an unrecorded area is detected.

  • Publication number: 20070171773
Abstract: An optical disc wherein recording can be performed on a label plane even only by an optical disc recording/reproducing device using a direct-current motor as a power supply of an optical pickup in a traverse direction. The optical disc is provided with a visible information recording layer (207), which can record visible information by changing a physical structure by irradiation light of the optical pickup, and a radius position information recording part (201). Therefore, even when an optical disc recording/reproducing device using a direct-current motor as a power supply of the optical pickup in the traverse direction, the contents of the radius position information recording part (201) are read and recorded on the label plane only by the device.

  • Patent number: 7221635
Abstract: The direction in which an information disk apparatus (for example, a DVD-ROM player) is installed is judged without employing a sensor. A controller measures a number of track crossings when a reading unit is moved by a driving unit in a direction corresponding to the radius of an optical disk for a predetermined period of time, and judges a direction in which the DVD-ROM player is installed on the basis of the measured number of track crossings.

  • Patent number: 7215621
Abstract: The present invention provides an information disc recording/playback apparatus which includes a track cross detection means, a track cross direction detection means, a rotation angle detection means, and a count means, detects the track pitch of a disc, evaluates the vibration amount, vibration speed, or vibration acceleration considering the track pitch of the disc, and determines a maximum rotation speed that is lower than the allowable vibration amplitude, vibration speed, or vibration acceleration of the information disc recording/playback apparatus. The present invention also provides a vibration detection method for the information disc recording/playback apparatus. This information disc recording/playback apparatus can perform vibration detection using a single threshold value that is independent of the type of the disc, without using an acceleration sensor, and further, the apparatus can accurately perform vibration detection even when direction detection is difficult.

  • Patent number: 7196980
Abstract: Information about the number of traversed tracks is acquired with a code at a first rotational speed and a second rotational speed in each area provided by dividing one rotation into m (m is a natural number equal to or larger than 1). As to the information about the number of traversed tracks, a difference is calculated between the areas. A value proportionate to the sum of absolute values of the information about the traversed tracks in the areas is used as a vibration detection value proportionate to vibration amplitude.
