  • Publication number: 20050152241
Abstract: Information about the number of traversed tracks is acquired with a code at a first rotational speed and a second rotational speed in each area provided by dividing one rotation into m (m is a natural number equal to or larger than 1). As to the information about the number of traversed tracks, a difference is calculated between the areas. A value proportionate to the sum of absolute values of the information about the traversed tracks in the areas is used as a vibration detection value proportionate to vibration amplitude.

  • Patent number: 6611658
Abstract: A decelerating method with low power consumption can be selected when rapid deceleration is not required. A disk can be stopped promptly and reliably even when a need arises for stopping the disk during deceleration of the disk by the method with low power consumption. In a disk device having a function of decelerating or stopping a rotating disk, depending on the kind of a command upon decelerating or stopping, the operation for decelerating or stopping is switched between a forced deceleration or stop operation by applying a reverse-directional voltage to a disk motor which rotates the disk so as to forcedly decelerate or stop the disk, and a power saving deceleration or stop operation with lower power consumption than the forced deceleration or stop operation so as to decelerate or stop the disk.

  • Patent number: 6590839
Abstract: An error recovery method and an apparatus achieve error recovery when reading errors occur at one or more addresses on a plurality of simultaneously readable tracks, in a multi-track disk reproducing apparatus. The reproducing apparatus with a plurality of reading head can simultaneously read data on the plurality of adjacent tracks on a disk having the plurality of tracks formed on its recording surface. The method comprises a step for storing a reading error-occurrence-address in an error occurrence, and a step for determining a moving process of the plurality of reading head for error recovery after the error occurrence based on the stored result.

  • Patent number: 6567364
Abstract: Spiral tracks are formed on a recording surface of an information disk such as an optical disk, and data is recorded by interleaving technique as well as adding error correction information. A disk driver rotates the information disk at a specified speed. Plural tracks are read simultaneously by a reading device. Analog data of the plural lines are converted into digital data by an A/D converter, and stored in a frame data buffer memory by each line. The data are respectively decoded sequentially in a decoder. When the disk makes one rotation, the data of next track is read in duplicate as much as the portion of the interleaving length of the tail data of each one of the plural tracks being read on the information disk. By data aligning means, according to a command from a controller, the data—corresponding to the number of tracks that can be read simultaneously—being output in parallel from the decoder are aligned sequentially from the head data on the information disk.

  • Patent number: 6496457
Abstract: To provide a disk playback system that effectively uses the maximum playback speed and maximum search speed that the system owns. A disk playback system that searches for a desired position of a disk (2) on which information data is recorded at constant linear velocity after receiving a command from an external device, reads out desired information data, and outputs information data corresponding to the playback format of the disk. An outermost-perimeter-address memory circuit (21) renews stored address information to the newest address information, if the address information of the newest address accessed according to an access instruction of said disk indicates the newest address is outer perimeter than the outermost address that has been accessed, and determines a criterion for speed control of the disk (2), based on the renewed address information. A CAV control circuit (20) controls the speed of the disk 2, based on the determined criterion.
