  • Patent number: 4974339
Abstract: A clothes dryer having a body with heater therein and a rotatable drying chamber is provided with a dual side rotating bladed heat exchange type fan having in its outer portion a group of grooves; and a partition member having an opening whose inner surface is opposed to the outer surface of said dual side bladed fan for separating paths of heated air and cooling air together with said dual side bladed fan in said body; the partition member has a group of fixed grooves interleaved with the fan rotating grooves to form a labyrinth seal; the fixed grooves extend from a base or the partition member and have a rising portion extending in the heated air path to inhibit the leakage of heated air from the heated air path to the cooling air path and have an opening to provide communication between the heated air and the cooling air.

  • Patent number: 4872293
Abstract: For cutting sheet metal or other work by means of a jet of water containing abrasive particles, an abrasive water jet nozzle assembly is provided to which there are separately supplied highly pressurized water and an abrasive suspension. The abrasive suspension is such that abrasive particles with an average size of up to 100 microns are held in suspension in water. The abrasive suspension is introduced into the ejected water by virtue of a partial vacuum created in the nozzle assembly by the pressurized water. The nozzle assembly directs the resulting mixture as an abrasive water jet against the work for cutting thereof. Preferably, the abrasive water jet is recovered for recirculation back to the nozzle assembly as an abrasive suspension of controlled abrasive concentration. Various constructions of the nozzle assembly and various recovery systems are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4707147
Abstract: A device for measuring properties of plasma projects linearly polarized light to an object plasma as incident light, and the light coming from the plasma in response to the incident light is separated into an S-polarized component and a P-polarized component, so that temperature and other properties of the plasma are determined from such S- and P-polarized components.
