  • Patent number: 5601626
Abstract: A support construction for a ceramic filter element adapted for use in a dust collecting apparatus, wherein the ceramic filter element is mounted within a tubular support housing which is formed at its inner periphery with an inward flange enclosing an outer periphery of the filter element. The filter element has one end portion formed at its outer periphery with an outward flange which is coupled with the internal wall surface of the support housing through an encircling sealing member and engaged at one side thereof with the inward flange of the support housing. A pressure plate in the form of a window frame is coupled within one end portion of the support housing and pressed to the outward flange of the filter element such that the outward flange of the filter element is clamped by the pressure plate and the inward flange of the support housing.

  • Patent number: 5593471
Abstract: A dust collecting apparatus, including a housing having an inlet duct, a discharge duct and filter provided therein. The filter has a honeycomb cellular structure including an inlet, outlet and a plurality of thin partition walls forming a plurality of axial passages. The filter has two groups of passages, a first group of passages that are closed along the inlet end of the filter and second group of passages that are closed along the outlet end of the filter. Further, a cover body is provided in the housing to form a chamber between the cover body and the outlet end of the filter. The chamber is in open communication with the first group of passages, and includes an outlet duct for passage of gas therethrough and to the discharge duct. Further, the housing provides an induction duct that opposes the outlet duct, for introduction of washing gas therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4741253
Abstract: A piston for internal combustion engines is disclosed, which includes a piston main body of metallic material, and a ceramic piston head member embedded in the top portion of the piston main body. The piston head member is formed on its peripheral surface with one or more extensions of dovetail section protruding radially outwards and having an axially measured thickness which increases toward the outer end thereof. The piston head member is retained in place with a substantially constant retaining force, even during the operation of the engine.

  • Patent number: 4713979
Abstract: A transmission includes a forward shift drum and an overlying and coaxial reverse shift drum. The drums are rotatable, but not longitudinally translatable with respect to each other. The drums each include lead grooves for guiding a shift fork pin therealong in portions of the grooves which overlap and intersect each other. When one of the lead grooves guides the shift fork pin into a gear position, the other lead groove serves as a stop, so that unintentional engagement of remaining gears with the drive shaft is prevented without the use of a separate special lock mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4638683
Abstract: A camshaft having a plurality of cams disposed on a metal shaft in spaced-apart relation with each other in an axial direction of the shaft, comprising at least one ceramic cam portion which is made of a ceramic material, and which includes at least one of the cams. Each of the at least one ceramic cam portion has a pair of joining protrusions which extend from opposite ends thereof in the axial direction of the metal shaft. The camshaft further comprises metallic shaft portions having joining holes which engage the joining protrusions of the ceramic cam portion such that the ceramic cam portion is joined integrally to the metallic shaft portions.
