    Abstract: An arteriosclerosis diagnostic device according to various embodiments is a simple device, resistant to an external factor, such as an error resulting from a skin surface, and capable of measuring the degree of hardness of an artery. The arteriosclerosis diagnostic device detects a heart sound and a pulse wave at least one location of a living body, the pulse wave propagating through an artery in relation to the heart sound, converts detected signals thereof into respective frequency signals, specifies the peak frequency of each of the frequency signals, and determines the degree of arteriosclerosis on the basis of the difference between the peak frequency of the heart sound and the peak frequency of the pulse wave. Accordingly, the degree of arteriosclerosis can be determined by comparison between the frequency signals.

    Abstract: In order that an object can be warmed through the use of thermoacoustic effect, the acoustic heating apparatus includes a first stack 3a sandwiched between a high-temperature-side heat exchanger 4 and a low-temperature input-side heat exchanger 5 in a first tube portion 2a and a second stack 3b sandwiched between a low-temperature-side heat exchanger 6 and a high-temperature output-side heat exchanger 7 in a second tube portion 2b. A standing wave and a traveling wave are generated through self excitation in the first tube portion 2a by cooling the low-temperature input-side heat exchanger 5 to minus 20° C. to 60° C. A temperature gradient is generated in the second stack 3b by propagating the resulting standing wave and the traveling wave to the second tube portion 2b, and high-temperature heat is output due to this temperature gradient from the high-temperature output-side heat exchanger 7 disposed on the second stack 3b side.

    Abstract: A magnetron circuit of a rectangular type is disposed on a lower surface of a rectangular target. A half of the target is covered with a shield plate, so that sputtering particles sputtered from an erosion region (a region with a maximized magnetic flux density) therebelow is blocked so as not to fly toward a substrate. The substrate is disposed at a level so as to be located in a plasma region of a vacuum chamber, and sputtering particles (ZnO) sputtered from a region exposed from the shield plate in the erosion region is caused to be incident on a surface of the substrate. When a gas pressure is lowered, a mean free path of each of the sputtering particles is lengthened to cause a large amount of high-energy sputtering particles to be incident. As a result, a hexagonal crystal particle having a plane that is a crystal plane hardly damaged by incidence of the high-energy sputtering particles is preferentially grown to form a c-axis in-plane oriented film.

In response to the received write-permission message, the input/output controller in an input/output node issues an update message, serving as a write message, to the home processor node. In response to the received update message, the memory controller in the process node updates the data in the main memory. In the above process, when receiving a plurality of write messages from input/output devices, the input/output controller issues write-request messages irrespective of the progress of a preceding write message.

    Abstract: An entertainment is provided in which a limited number of persons can share images through a peer-to-peer network, and a device is provided for allowing anyone to easily get a print having a desired finish quality at the nearest lab store with no uploading procedure. A peer-to-peer server enters a closed user group (CUG) and issues a password necessary for login to the CUG. It is possible to share an image between client terminals having the same password through peer-to-peer connection. It is possible to directly transmit the shared image to an order-accepting server of the nearest lab store through peer-to-peer connection and print the image. Moreover, when a user designates an image-processing condition on a client terminal, the information on the condition is sent to and managed by a client-managing server. The lab that receives a print order extracts the favorite information of the client concerned from the client-managing server and provides a print having the desired finish quality.
