    Abstract: A biomass gasification system and operating method thereof are able to prevent hindrances caused by the tar component in a fuel gas and to thermally utilize a fuel gas containing a tar component. A gas reforming tower, able to thermally crack the tar component in a fuel gas by increasing the temperature thereof to a process temperature, is connected to a gas supply system, which routes a biomass-source fuel gas generated by a gasification furnace, to a utilization system. Fuel gas from the gas reforming tower is routed through a fuel gas induction system to the gasification furnace for use as fuel therein during the time required for the gas reforming tower to attain the process temperature.

Shroud upper fixing brackets are temporarily attached to the shroud panel before various parts are mounted on the shroud panel so as to assemble the nose unit on a car assembly line. The brackets serve to fix the shroud panel to the car body. In the state of temporary attachment, the brackets are welded to the car body. Then, the shroud panel is removed from the brackets. The various parts are attached to the shroud panel so as to assemble the nose unit. The shroud panel of the nose unit is fastened to the brackets, so that the nose unit is fixed to the car body.

The apparatus further includes a plenum chamber provided adjacent to said passages for temporarily storing cooling air to be supplied to the passages and having at least one inner partition wall therein to define a plurality of cavities and a damper device provided in or adjacent to the plenum chamber for adjusting the amount of cooling air to be supplied to the cavities and having at least one damper, wherein opening degree of the damper is variable so as to adjust the amount of cooling air to be supplied to the passages through the cavities.

    Abstract: There is provided a process for the heat treatment of coal which comprises heating and drying low grade coal such as subbituminous coal and brown coal containing less than 80% of carbon and more than 33% of volatile matter (dry mineral matter-free basis) and having a high moisture content and a particle diameter smaller than 2 inches, with a high-temperature gas containing less than 5% of oxygen in a fluidized bed for 2-10 minutes until the coal temperature reaches 180.degree.-400.degree. C., and subsequently cooling the coal by spraying water in a fluidized bed for 2-10 minutes until the coal temperature decreases to 60.degree. C. or below at which time the coal holds the maximum moisture given by wetting. The heating process may be performed in two steps, in which case coal is heated with a high-temperature gas to 80.degree.-150.degree. C. in the first step so that the moisture of coal is reduced below the inherent moisture.

As the hot gas, an inert gas whose oxygen concentration is not higher than 4% by volume is employed. The hot gas is either caused to contain not less than 20% by volume of steam or composed solely of the steam.
